Hezbollah and Canada

The other day on the CBC..on the program THE NATIONAL on tv and the morning report for radio...they imply that Canada has made a dreadful mistake in naming Hezbollah a terrorist organization.

Here are some of the events Hezbollah is responsible for:

- suicide bombing of US marine barracks in 1983 (242 murdered)
- 1984 destruction of US embassy in Beirut including kidnappin, torture and death of CIA bureau chief
- 1985 terrorist hijacking of of TWA flight 847
- Bombing of Buenos Aires Jewish cultural centre (85 dead)
- 1996 Khobar towers bombing in Saudi (19 dead)
- many other suicide bomber attacks in Izrael etc..

The CBC says it is "intensely political" and it shows that we are "taking sides" on the mideast debate.

Hezbollah has recently been involved in bombs and arms shipments for palestinian killers.

The CBC says that Hezbollah could be considered a "nationalist movement." This makes no sense because Israel does not occupy Lebanon (where Hezbollah is from). And they surely don't seem to have a problem with Syria occupying their country.

ALso Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah openly urges suicide bombing to be "exported out of palestine" and to "take suicide bombings world wide."

Until a few days ago, Hezbollah was legally allowed to operate in Canada as a legal legitimate entity.

As a Canadian, I find our Government's complicity to terrorism frightening. Maybe it will take the slaughter of our people before we wake up.

it is a political choice and taking side, because we could call the likoud of israel a terrorist organization and some other extreme right parties in israel (example the ones stating to throw out all "arabs" from israel) for the same reasons... but eh, it depends on which side of the conflict you stand ;)

I see what you are saying. The difference is that the radical right wing parties in Israel have nothing to do with Canada really. But, Hezbollah was allowed to raise money in Canada completely uninhibited as they could claim it was "charity." Also, Hezbollah is responsible for many murders. Not to take sides and to ban this group from functioning in Canada and not to freeze their assets IMO is kinda stupid.

i hope you're not trying to kid me... jews here in canada as in anywhere in the world raise funds for parties in israel, colonists, poor in israel, etc... and thats not counting all the money coming out of canada to get invested in israel. depriving canadian economy from millions. one example, i know an accountant (not arab or muslim or anything) working for a rich jewish buisness man making anywhere 3 to 6 millions dollar profits every year, sending the totality to be invested in israel. and thats one guy... he's free to do whatever he wants with its money, still investing in his own city, state/province is better seen and positive. creating jobs here, not there... that said for everyone, not only jews.

Lets not turn this into another jews vs muslims thread ok?

With that said, today I was watching the news, and they had some diffrent "experts" on talking about how the 5 suspected terorists got into the U.S, and a lot of them blasted Canada and spliting the blame between the RCMP and diffrent U.S border services. When I first heard them I thought to myself how typical our politicans are trying to blame someone else for there own shortcomings. However it's intresting to see that by some canadian accounts there right :P

on that story, its intresting to know what is the american side of the story. over here, they're not terrorists or anything, they're just been missing and that's all.
