Here's a little story about Saturday night..
I was out driving with my dad's car, I had 4 friends with me; 2 guys and 2 girls. We were driving about 60 km/h, and I see another car coming against us, on his side of the road.
Then, all of a sudden, I see that his car is like this <-> close to mine, and the next second I feel that we're hit, and we're going towards the ditch. I try to stop the car by braking all I can, but it's too late. I get ing scared that someone got seriously hurt, get out of the car and try to help my friends. Some taxis come by and stops, and someone calls the police and some ambulances. We're all taken to hospital to see that everything's ok with us.
I'm not hurt, and my best friend is fine too, so we were the lucky ones. The girl that sat behind me got something in her stomach, but it was nothing serious. The other guy and the girl that sat next to me hit their knees, nothing serious, but they have problems walking. I don't really know what happened to the guy in the other car, he was bleeding in his face but I don't care, cause the SOB was drunk.
Both cars are now ex-cars, so I really hope that both had good insurances, so that dad gets a new car.

His car is at about the same position where it happened, and our car is in the ditch.
We went to look at the car today, and damn.. You could almost feel the pain when you saw it. Also, my best friend was in an accident like 3 weeks ago, not his fault, but his car also got totally destroyed.
What can I say.. happends, and damn I'm happy that noone got seriously hurt. And FFS, either drink or drive, but don't drive when you have been drinking. |

| I've been in a few car accidents, the most recent was last July 4th. Went out with some friends at around 1 in the moring and drive around. The driver (whom I didn't personally know, and was a friend of a friend) and front passenger who picked my other friend and I insisted that they hadn't been drinking for hours and were sober, and as far as I could tell that was true. But all of a sudden, at around 3 in the morning, we went over some train tracks and the driver lost conrol. Hit 2 parked cars in the street one after the other, went through a few lawns and uprooted a tree ni the process, and finally stopped when we crashed into someone's Land Rover in their driveway. The car was completely totally, ed front whell and suspension system totally ripped out of the car on the front left hand side. Stupid friend and I weren't wearing seatbelts, but we were okay (she had a minor concussion and I had a couple cuts). My friend in the front passenger seat almost went blind in one eye because his head went through the windshield and lo and behold, the driver was FINE> Not a scrape on him. But as it turns out, he WAS drunk. Bastard f*cked up good, and he paid for it :whip: :( |

Mr.Mystery, yeah I know. If the cops wouldn't have showed up as soon as they did, we would probably have beaten the out of him after hearing tha he was drunk.
Tomorrow there will probably be something about it in the local newspaper, I'll post more about it then. |

Don't you just hate it when ppl know they are in the wrong but still drive when they are intoxicated... wtf is going on here.. don't people have logic installed into their brains!!!

Sorry to hear that, Nicke :( I've witnessed some really awful car accidents in my life, and I think I'm lucky I've never got involved in one of those accidents so far.
But I gotta tell you something, mate: I LOVE THOSE DRAWINGS! :D |

Nicke, that's terrible, and definitely glad you're ok,
thanks for telling the story, it's always good to remind ourselves about being careful, and looking out for irrational drivers.
You know, I put a lot of blame of this on our public transportation system, here in the U.S.
It is impossible to go out by bus, so I imagine everyone that drinks, ends up having to drive back home. I know that it's still your responsibility if you chose to drink not to drive, but it makes going out quite hard here! It's easier to think"I'll just be extra careful/I'm not that drunk/I do not want to spend 10 dollars on a taxi" than to find other means of getting home/getting there.
I don't know how the situation is where you live, but here in our University, we have a very poor bus system, and you've got 30,000 crazy kids out on the road. I never drink and drive, but have been in a car accident where my friend was drunk and he was driving(stupid stupid!) and a couple of people in the car broke their ribs.
