question about song structure

hi all,

I am new here. I usually produce breaks but I am working on a trance track, anyways my question is this. I let someone hear my track I am working on and they said the structure is wrong. Particularly the intro for mixing. I have the kick drum drop off at the 17th measure. I heard it before in other tracks so I know its not "wrong" but, what do you all think about a track like this? If you dont know what I am talking about please listen. Also if you would like to leave feedback on the rest of the track please do, as it would be much appriciated.

listen to the track

hey cheggy
How/Where do i have a listen?

I think i know what you mean though. It is annoying for a dj to mix in a song with an ambient intro. A lot of Picotto's tracks start like this and i personally don't like it.

16th measure, is that 64 beats?

as long as it sounds cool then i'd say leave it how you want. no point in making cookie cutter trance.

there is no set structure to trance...
(well.. maybe include a climax, build-up, cool-down)
when someone tells you "No, the structure is all wrong", he/she is wrong... you do not have to follow or copy other people's styles to make your own song good... it is all about how creative you are with what you do...

now on the other hand... if your strong structure doesn't make sense musically... then change it!!! but not necessarily like other songs

it sounds fine to me..

your friend may be commenting that the beat drops off too early, normally it drops off around bar 64 or 128

but it's not bad the way you did it, cause the beat comes back in pretty soon.
