first of all this should be in the dj booth forum

second: i think you could better wait till you have more money, belt driven sucks, you cannot sell them if you're sick of them nobody wants them buy direct drive and people are queueing to buy them (if they're Technics 1200)

ok i have moved it to the Dj booth forum

you will be sorry if you buy belt-driven decks, biggest mistake you could make. Start out with some decent deck and a ty mixer. Invest in good decks because you can always resell them. Then if you get into it you can just upgrade the mixer.

DON'T buy belt drive

you would be wise to check out this site:

here's a quote, but do go check out the site, it will tell you all you need to know.

Belt Driven decks suck. This isn't from a "To be a Dj you must have Technics" point of view. It's the truth. Belt-Driven decks suck. You'll hear people telling you that they're using Belt-Driven decks, and there's nothing wrong with them, "Oh yeah, I've had mine for years, can do anything on them, scratch, mix, cook, play frisbee, solve the worlds debt and hunger problems...." Fine. If you want to listen to them rather than me, then I'm not going to get all fussed and bothered about it, but PLEASE, stop asking me if it's OK to use Belt-Driven decks, then bugging me about it for two weeks, ignoring what I say, then sending me a mail two months later saying "Yeah, you were right, they suck. How can I make them better?" At which point, I just hit the delete button. It's the only thing I'm a wanker about. This is something I feel passionate about, that belt-driven decks are for people who either a) Aren't serious about Dj'ing, b) are only going to use them for a couple of months as a test to see if they're going to like Dji'ng, or c) Think with their wallets instead of thier heads.

I bought a starter kit with belt-driven tables when I first started out. I thought with my wallet, and that was a bad decision. Let me tell you from experience...belt-driven tables SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK!!!! Sure, people say once u get accustomed to belt-driven tables it'll be easier to spin on direct drive tables...if you can ever get used to them.

Try cue'ing up songs when there's a 2-3 second delay from the time your finger releases the platter to when it actually starts spinning at the right speed. YOU CAN'T!!! The torque cannot even begin to compare to direct drive tables. Direct drives like the Technics have almost no delay reaching full speed from a dead stop.

The best thing u can do for urself is to buy used 1200s or better yet, new ones. You can't go wrong with them, and if u decide it's not the thing for u, u can just resell them for nearly what you paid for them. The same can't be said with belt-driven decks.

DO NOT BUY BELT DRIVES!! If you haven't got the money yet, SAVE!!

I dont think i can afford to save up that much, im only 16!
I was thinkin maybe gettin A pair of Citronic PD-1's and a Citronic CDM5:2 Mixer...Anygood?
I know Technics are the best, but i just cant afford that much!
JohnSmith
NO! those are belt drive, don't get belt drives, haven't you been listening?

just don't, they are useless. whether or not that's all you can afford doesn't matter.

if you can't afford direct drive decks, then you can't afford to DJ.
you don't neccesarily NEED techs, but they are reccomended.

go to www.recess.co.uk and check it out, you will learn much.
