shawshank redemption - its themes of working toward your goal, revenge, humanity, friendship, and freedom.
LOTR - epic fantasy with a purpose
braveheart - very similar to shawshank
saving ryan's privates
american beauty - makes you question your life
hmmmm, all oscar winners and almost all best film winners. this does not necessarily mean that i only watch hollywood movies, they just happen to be good.
