Just wondering what is everyones opinion on what makes a good mix set? Is there a certain guideline to follow when making a mix kinda like writing a book? I wanted to try making my own mix on the computer just messing around.

Id say the most important thing to me would be flow. I hate this saying, but a mix should go as if the dj is telling a story keeping it consitant. ie he doesnt mix ambient with hardtrance.

Good set is kinda "uplifting". It starts with calm song, and changes to a bit harder, and so on and so on.. It takes 3-4 songs to build up the set and after that you just add there as many good songs as you want.

I've made few sets with computer, and it's hardest to find song that start the set and ends it. But it's fun to mix :)

This is a set I'm currently mixing. I posted this list before but i don't think anyone paid any attention. uh well..

I know it wasn't very origial starting the set with York's reachers of Civilazation but I couldn't resist. Such a good intro!

01 The Reachers of Civilization
02 Magik Journey
03 Riva - Time Is The Healer (Armin van Buuren Remix)
04 system f - elevate
05 M-Diva-Reachin_Out-(Original_Club_Mix)
06 Ballric Bill - Destination Sunshine
07 Dj Kim - Jetlag (Alpha zone remix)
08 Kai Tracid - Life Is Too Short (Energy mix)
09 tukan - light a rainbow
10 mario lopez - the sound of nature part 2

During the York song I've also mixed in a woman's voice singing this sweet calm song in the background. Then it blends very nicely into magik journey before picking up the pace with riva. The set is not finished yet. It still has room for a few more songs before it starts to breach the 650mg limit. It's all in mp3 format for now ofcourse. much lighter to work with.

After that I just have to find a server somewhere on the net to upload it to.
