Promotion of your stuff... Your thoughts?

Hey folks...

So, here I sit in my "Studio" and think... Man, that choon I just recorded sounds proper... It's got "that oomph" it seems to have a character and it sounds way better than some of the "fillers" you hear inbetween "decent" choones. Now, how the hell do I get it out there, how do I get noticed??? So much stuff is being pumped out - it's craaaaaaazy!

So, the dillema is that it seems that everyone and their grandmother nowdays has some kind of "studio" setup and writes something that can classify as "trance". Of course, you get awesome trax like Punx and stuff like Thrillseekers... But then of course you have your commercial sh!te like "Qed" (I actually bought my Supernova II off of that dude). Eitherway - with sites like MP3 housing thousands of "producers" - how does one get noticed??? I mean with todays trance, choones have a half-life of sushi in a hot humid sun.

Post your thoughts, gripes, etc here.

send your stuff directly to the labels and try and find some kind of free hosting on the net! pass your stuff to DJs on cds also! ;)

yeah, if possible get your stuff directly to some DJs. When they play it in clubs and it gets popular, the lables will seek you out and sign you up for a record deal.

Or send Demo CDs out to lables.. unfortunately it is a bit pricey and time consuming making professional looking (and sounding) demo packs, and generally the lables wont even reply to you, but you might be lucky and get an A&R guy when they're in a good mood.

3rd is the most risky way, and thats to invest in making your own white lable promo 12". Costs about $2000 CND for 500 records or so, and if you can somehow get a distributer to send your records to the key stores, the lables should flock to you (assuming your track is good).
