You guys know that I'm doing a guide about electronic music, don't you? If you didn't, you do know now :D Anyway, I'm having some trouble with the techno sub-genres and I thought you guys could help me. Here's what I've got:

Acid Techno: Rowland the Bastard - London-Tokyo-Devon
Hard Acid techno: Chris Liberator - Soul Mantra '99
(although I'm seriously thing about merging these two genres)

Hard techno: Marco Zaffarano - Playback (Picotto mix)

???: Laurent Garnier - Crispy Bacon

Detroit techno: Jeff mills - Changes of life

Tribal techno: Oxia - Right now

???: CJ Bolland - There can be only one

???: Takkyu Ishino - Ghost In the Shell

Experimental (?) techno: ID - ID :D

Need recomendations on: Euro-techno, Deep techno, Dub techno and Minimal techno. If you don't know what these are, check Ishkur's guide.

If you guys know other genres, please tell me :)
Acid Junkie
two subgenres u might be unfamiliar with:

industrial techno
////

wonky techno (http://wonkystyle.com)
edit - moody morning
{it's a relatively new invention that gradually ousts acid techno in london}

and i wouldn't recommend that u merge acid & hard acid tech as they ARE different (i'll post samples of each later)

Cheers, I knew I could count on you :) I already knew wonky techno, but this indrustrial techno is new to me. Also, I once heard you talking about "frontier techno", what is it?

edit: Hey, this industrial techno sounds very cool... is that tune I posted as "Id - ID" industrial too?
evil_bastard
You could include "schranz techno". The kind of dark and rough tracks Chris Liebing produces.

I don't think anything by Marco Zaffarano is hard techno. Try:
Alexander K Katz - Seek and Destroy
Marco Bailey - Sygno Power
etc, although I could be wrong.
Acid Junkie
here, acid techno that is far from being hard

marco carola - acid tension
thomas schumacher - wig-out into
tekno spectrum - teknospectrum 1

frontier techno? no, it does not "officially" exist. it's just the way the london-based producers describe some of their stuff, like u know... stuff on cluster, techno slut, maximum minimum, etc... they call it frontier because it is actually hard techno that shares many elements with uk's unique acid techno style... it's like acid techno without the acid... as if u took an acid techno track and removed all acid lines and kept the rest... so u'd get something that is on a frontier... but it's not an actual subgenre
verminator
swedish/uk/belgian/chicago techno:)

Thanks, I'm doing it already :) But is that tune in this CD or it's a Experimental techno CD?

That's the same style... in my opinion, hard techno is highly based on drums and has little (or no) melody. Like that stuff Glenn Wilson or Speedy J produce.

Thanks for the samples  Could you recommend me some more industrial techno tunes?

I'll probably add these genres as "regional" techno, because there's Italian techno, Brazilian Techno (e.g. Renato Cohen, Anderson Noise), Japanese techno...
About Chicago Techno... what's the difference between the sound from Detroit and from Chicago? I've also heard that New York techno is different too :conf:
Is the tune I posted from CJ Bolland Belgium techno then?

Frankfurt. Chris Liebing claims he coined the term in Frankfurt in 1994 I think.
