I'm having a great deal of difficulty burning my 1st CD. What I thought would be relatively easy has turned out to be an extremely difficult task. I'm on my last nerve and I could greatly use some assistance. I'm sure many on this site have done what I am attempting to do below.

My basic problem is that after I burn a 6-track prog. trance CD (so no gaps between songs), the CD player will only play through the 1st track and then it will freeze up. Also, if I try to skip ahead of the 1st track, the CD player will not be able to "find" tracks 2-6.

Here is what I did: (long)

Using a Win2000 PC

1. DLed a .mp3 mix (about 1 hour 30min. mix)

2. Used Goldwave to change .mp3 to .wav (at 16bit, 44.1kHz)

3. Used Nero (using Nero wizzard set for "Audio CD") to split this 90min. mix into 6 tracks (no gaps between any tracks). Again, this was a 90min. music file. I cut the end off at 45min. (and plan to put the other 45min. of the big file onto another CD).

4. Nero will play all 6 tracks fine in that little window where you add and edit tracks (prior to burn).

5. Set track 6 to Fade Out at end for 3 sec. Two second gap added automatically by Nero at start of 1st track.

6. Burn at 12x on Memorex CD-R

7. Analysis of files on burned CD confirms all 6 files transfered. Files are listed as .cda files. However, like CD player, the computer will not be able to "find" tracks 2-6. Track 1 will play out normally.

All replies are GREATLY appreciated. :)

Why are you using nero to divide tracks if you've got Goldwave? is it the latest version? If so, there's an option named "save selection" or something like that (right after the copy and paste tools). Just divide it saving 6 different wave files (making sure that the beginning of one track is exactly the ending of the previous one).

Should work ;)

Thanks for the reply. I figured out what was wrong. I was using 700mb/80min. el-cheapo Memorex CD-Rs that obviously are crap when it comes to burning music.

I tried a 650mb/74min. Maxell CD-R and it worked like a charm.
