i dont think scratching or beat juggling has anything to do with djing
you dont see PVD or Tiesto beat juggling or scratching.. maybe backspins but thats it |

Haunted: Well, trance for example doesnt do very good in scratching
or beatjuggling. Have you ever tried scratching back and forth over
a trancerecord ? Its almost only the intro and outtro that sounds
good becuase you wont be going over a synth, that sounds.. strange.
You need tracks with beats and vocals, not synths, buildups and so on. |

Yup, building up a set is one of the hardest things.
I still have problems doing that... |

Lol...Haunted, do you spin? If so, I advise you to sell your decks...no better yet, GIVE your decks away, as you have no dignifying right to even touch 1200s.

THATS BECAUSE THEY CANT. They are not "DJs" on the term...they are money making, other people's music playing, one record after another spinning...people. These idolized DJs, as we all call them are anything but in terms of true turntablism and DJing.
Backspin? Yeah, ok...but anything else? Backspinning is just that...spinning, uh...backwards.
Don't take offense, Haunted, but growing up on hip hop, and wanting to spin for the longest time, hearing stuff like you posted really sets me off. |

whoa, let's not get out of hand. yes, hip hop DJs are skilled, beat juggling and scratching is defintely a part of a DJs skilled.
but so are mxing DJs, like PVD, Tiesto, etc. it's best not to go ripping on anyone as skilled as these guys.
i'd like to see a hip hop DJ pull off some of tiestos PVDs mixes, i bet it would sound as bad as it would when PVD tries to scratch!
anyway, to each his own, beatmatching, beatjuggling, scratching, backspinning, these are all skills of a DJ, no matter what genre he happens to spin. |

I think <-- whehe me is thinking :)
i think beat juggle and scratching is not a skill to make your set
sounds better i think a good build up with good vinyl is much harder, i mean some songs are made 4 eachother and some are just at war :D |

the hardest thing is too find the ''PERFECT'' bpm so you dont have too touch the vinyls or the pitch
:D
sasha is soo fast
its like: he puts the record, in one second he moves the pitch at the exact place and he never touch it again
there are some exceptions of course:D |
|
|
| Flash Bastard |
maybe sasha spins his set so much that he knows where the pitch need to be ...
but anyway .. i am always a minute atleast adjusting the pitch thats fast 4 me :D |

Actually beatmixing/beatmatching hip-hop records is alot harder to do than trance is. I use to spin hip-hop for years years ago. The difference between mixing hip-hop and trance is that in Trance there's alot more tweaking (filtering and what not) and for some dj's blending than there is in hip-hop. And what it really comes down to in mixing is KNOWING YOUR F@$&ING RECORDS!!!!!
See ppl have it all wrong here... There's 2 different kinds of Dj's.
One's that just mix records, and one's the do tricks. Yes you can do both. Both are skills, but you have to remember you can't compare tricks to mixing!!! That's just retarded. Compare apples and oranges... both fruit, but they are both different. Now how about we make this thread into "What's the hardest skill for a Trance Dj (since it's not about beatjuggling and scratching)!! |

I don't mind hearing both whats the hardest skill for a Trance DJ
and a hip-hop DJ, both very interesting. |
