A few months ago a virus completely anally raped my computer. I tried to repair what i could, and just to be safe completely formatted my comp. I dunno why, but i suddenly get the feeling that that virus did a little more damage to my system than i initially thought. Is there a way i can scan my computer at the most basic level possible? i dont just mean windows, i mean totally scan the whole computer, the bios, mdr, everything!!! I hav norton systemworks 2002, and a couple other virus protector programs, but im not sure if these would come in handy or not? If these kinda progs would be suitable pls lemme no, and also how to carry em out. If not what else can i do to give my comp a thorough deep scan to be completely reassured my comp is ok.

Cheers, Mike :)

i very much doubt that any virus would be living in your bios, and if u completley formated ur harddisk then that wud have wiped all trace of it. u could have infected a disk or cd u wer burning while u had the virus, and if u loaded any programs on that disk could re-infect ur comp

ask me in irc if u aint sure!

What s me about Norton Antivirus is its inability to repair most viruses when scanning your drive. After detecting that my comp has a virus it will prompt me to repair or delete the infected file. But most of the time it is unable to do either one because it says something about the current file is in use by Windows.. So I just delete the ****** myself in DOS prompt. haha, seems to work for me :)

If the virus had spread to your bios u would be totally ed mate, and then you would need to flash it. Done in dos. But anyway that aint the problem. But you may pick it up from burnt cds. Best thing to do is scan everything before using it.

But there are small progs out there to check things like ram, bios, etc etc. But unfortunatly im not sure where. Check the manufacturers sites for any progs which could help you :D
