i bought my first vinyls when there were no CDs, so it was some crappy pop.

One of the first trance records was "Marmion - Berlin EP" which has "Schöneberg" on it. Also Bass-X-Pander which was an early project of Gary D, both '93

...well, I've been doing digital mixing on my PC for about 1 1/2 years, and now I'm making the jump to turntables.

Just went shopping for my first few tracks at one of two local stores a couple days ago, didn't find any artists I recognized though (aside from CJ Bolland):

Amen vs. Rachel McFarlane - Lover
DJ Mishka - Pleasure Me
Rachael Starr - Remember
Not Ferris - Reflection
CJ Bolland - Mantra Remixes

Going to check out the other store here in e-town in the next couple of weeks (or once my bloody mixer that's on order finally arrives...).

My first record was some wierd hardcore oldschool record. My first couple of records sucked.

Giresse - Mon Ami (Original/Jan Driver/Electric Shaker and some other mix)
twizta
fatboy slim - drop the hate
and...hahaha
george michael - freek [remixes]

My first 5 records were actually very reasonable..

1. Way Out West - Mindcircus [DISTINCTIVE BREAKS]
2. Lemon 8 - Lose Control [BEDROCK]
3. Tonuri - Take Me [BLUEDYE RECORDS]
4. Coca Da Silva - @Night [KISMET]
5. Bedrock - Heaven Scent [BEDROCK]

I still play Mindcircus quite often :) The Phunk Investigation mix is top quality. Sadly, until I got into my 50ths vinyl, I can't say that my vinyl collection was all that great..

Out of the first 50, here are the only ones I might still play..

15. Solid Sessions - Janeiro [FORCES RECORDS]
20. James Holden - Solstice / I have put out the light [SILVER PLANET]
26. Aurora - Dreaming [EMI RECORDS]
29. Sasha - Xpander EP [DECONSTRUCTION]
42. Ultrafine - Kassso [EXPRESS YOUR SOUL]

Kinda sucks that the rest aren't worth playing.. I'm glad I have them though. I have some classic Tiesto songs on vinyl, some classic housy stuff, etc. Even some progressive that was good at the moment.. But nearly a year later, playing it just isn't worth it :)

The lesson? When you buy records, ask yourself: "Am I going to play it in a year?" Otherwise, you just might be wasting your money. Save it up, a new mixer (Allen and Heath), new turntables or CD decks (whichever you need more), etc, might help you more than another piece of vinyl that's going to gather dust on the shelf.

Mine was Veracocha - Carte Blanche on positiva
And Cygnus x -The Orange Theme but this was first disc with crap mixes. Got the other one with the moonman remix now. Still play veracocha and it's still as good as when I brought in 2000.

Dj Dizzy
Dillinja - Nasty Wayz
i still love that song, but now i've somehow managed to get a much larger breaks/dnb collection than trance, but my "collection" is still small (under 30 vinyls)

ah well, trance or not i still love em
