Is saving your back because you don't have to lug around 15kg of vinyl crates to every gig you do worth the money?
So what's it like? Is there any noticeable delay? I was thinking of getting it, until I realised how many vinyls I could buy for the price of finalscratch and a half decent laptop (ie 200+). And then of course there's the whole piracy issue, and of course there's the issue of having to set it up at a club...
But being able to play one day old promos without having to wait for the vinyls to come into stock or ship over here - now that's cool. |

you hit the nail on the head with playing the promos and bootlegs as u get em as opposed to waitin for em to come out.
thing for me is i already owned alot of the stuff (inc. laptop, ext. soundcard lala, mixer,dex) anyway so it was really just the vinyl, the software.
again i dont DJ that much anymore and hwen i do its the odd private party or dive nightclub for extra $. sometimes i'll have to pogue myself and play a rnb joint or a dance club and do u thin k iwll spend my $ on vinyl for that #%#@? ppl still expect a vinyl show these days even if it is playin top 40 stuff. i got too many interests to fuel to be buying that stuff. piracy smirachy, i dunno wot its like i clubs these days, some ppl claim clubs wont let u spin if u hav CDRs and stuff. gotta wonder.
as far as latency issues and all that jazz i really think its great for trance DJs. ur not exactly gonna set the dex alight furious scratching etc. etc. give it a good boot, spin it back lalala and it hasn't missed a beat for me. u run it off its own boot, like XOP for all ur normal stuff and linux for FS so alot of PCDJ sorta issues are squashed that way.
on the other hand i cant say i would be using it without a backup ie. a set of vinyl or whatever.
oh and final points: the vinyl came in shrinkwrap, which #@%$es me orff a bit and also i wish the vinyl was heavier! its only 120 grams i thinx ?
