Canadian Teen Survives Four Days Lost in Woods
Tuesday December 31 12:30 PM EST
MONCTON, New Brunswick (Reuters) - A 16-year-old Canadian youth, lost in bitterly cold, snow-covered backwoods for four days before being rescued, was in hospital on Tuesday being treated for hypothermia and severe frostbite that may result in the loss of his feet.
Rescue workers found Luc Goguen on Dec. 29. He had been missing since Christmas when he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle in the woods surrounding his home town, Cocagne, New Brunswick.
Goguen was unable to find his way out of the woods and fell in a swamp where he lost his boots.
He was disoriented and in a critical condition suffering from severe hypothermia and frostbite when he was found, said Sergeant Darrell Marchand of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
"I believe it's a miracle. I never stopped praying," the boy told local media on Tuesday.
Doctors at Moncton City Hospital said they are confident the teenager's condition will improve, but fear he may lose one or both of his frostbitten feet.

May be tough, but not that bright. Why the hell did he leave his car and wander into a swamp.
