I've been reading your forums lately and all I have to say is that you people truls are tranceAddicts.
I have some questions to ask. I'm trying to get some gigs as a dj, but don't know where to begin, can any of you help me? I'm 19 years old and think i'm good enough now to be doing this as more than a hobbie. So please if you guys have any suggestions, feel free to post them.
And another thing, who is Hartec? I've been hearing so much about him lately. Does he have a web site I can visit to learn more?

you should try the 3 DJ forums they have here. Maybe you might get more help there. :)

I got my first gig djing when i was 18....it was at one of those parties show casing new talent or some ...in other words it was a way for a club owner to get a lot of djs to come free and he knew all of us would bring a crew sooooo i got on at about 2am till 3:20 and then after i got off a bunch of guys gave me bussines cards... I dont work as a dj i just do it for fun...soo i didnt wanna go to a agency or anything soo nowadays i spin at like 1 or 2 clubs a week just for fun and free drinks...Maybe when i need the cash ill start promoting myself i got some friends that have done that they make like 2 mixtapes a week and give em out to club owners.

That's cool man, thanks for the advice. I'm starting to look for work at my college, cause they always throw parties and . I think if I get a break i'll definately make it, cause there are only a select few that play club bursting music around here, and maybe I can one day be one of them. I'm also saving my money right now to throw a massive party, is that a good idea you think?

methinks party is a cool idea, but it would only be a good promotion if you invite the right people. Also, the easiest way to get a gig or a regular job at a club, is to phone up the owner of a club you think needs a good dj like you and promote yourself, ask him to accept a few mixtapes you've recorded.

IF your gonna start doing college parties throw down stuff people know...even though you may hate it DO IT the college crowd is the hardest at least in a club you can do your own thing and noone realy s with you but college people are gonna be asking "could you play that song that sounds like" and learn to scratch most kids realy like that..and its a show off factor....but once you start trying to get into a club make sure your unique in the style of music you play dont limit yourself just to one genre.
