dude, awesome tune!!
only thing, i agree with modular, it definatly needs a bit of beefing up. fatter, deeper bass would be sweet and would really set it off.
one thing tho, not gonna be too DJ friendly is it, hehe :D |
Well... I had no trouble mixing it yet, but maybe you're right, I'd better add some beats in the beginning. Cheers :)
and about remastering, that's all I managed to do with my equipment :( |

Maaz , i'm sorry i'm posting in Spanish , but i was writing as i was listening thinking you had a thread going in the Spanish Forum :conf:
***************************************************
Congratz !

I'm gonna remake the tune this weekend with a more powerful bass and I'll try to remaster it as smooth as possible :)
William: I didn't post it to the Spanish forum because it was already at the Portuguese forum and well, it would be quite egocentric to open 3 threads for auto-promotion :D
Anyway, I'm gonna reply in English because the gringos will be able to understand as well :tongue2
Even though I'm planning to blend psy-trance and dnb, this time I just used elements from the good and ol' epic trance because I thought that the trance'n'bass as we know lacked some elements like build-ups and riffs. I want to develop my sound into something different from what we hear nowadays.
From now on, I'm planning to produce something closer to dnb but keeping the trance vibe, and it includes borrowing elements from psy-trance and even acid trance (which is why I sent you that pm). Nevertheless, all my experiments on psy-trance have disappointed me so far and I still need to learn how to improve them :p Hopefully, it'll be something for a near future :)
Oh, about the kicks... I'm seriously thinking about using them in the tech step kind of way, instead of using the classic 4/4 beat because when I tried to do so, it sounded like happy hardcore :p Maybe in some separated part I'll do it :) |

Wow. I have been downloading a lot of tracks from the amateur producers in TA and I have to honestly say that Maaz is by far the most original, talented and promising producer I have ever heard here, period.
I agree that the track needs a bit of beefin' up. Make it acceptable for junglists, you know ;)
The main synth riff just before the breakdown could also use some counterpoint harmony just to make the melody more interesting and pro.
I SERIOUSLY think you should send this to John B's label after you work a bit more on it.
And also, are you planning to do drum & brazz a la Marky? :p You definitely should do that right now, when the sound is so huge in the UK and the dnb world! |

Wow, I'm flattered, DJ Pío, muito obrigado :D
About making it acceptable for junglists: Aye, I've been having some trouble with junglists, but most of them liked the idea of blending dnb with trance. However, they usually don't like the main riff and the build-up (they're not used to it as much as we are), so I'm probably gonna produce two different mixes (one will be trancer-friendly and the other one will be junglist-friendly :D). By the way, if you're curious to know what junglists said about it, here's a thread about this tune in a Brazilian dnb forum: http://forum.dnbonline.com.br/viewtopic.php?t=1968
About the melody before the build-up: A counterpoint harmony? hhmmm...
*takes note*
I'm gonna try it, cheers :)
About showing it to John B: Do you think so? Well, I've already been told to do it, but I haven't because I'm not really satisfied with the current sound yet (I want to work a bit more on it, that's why I'm really glad you guys gave me your feedback). But, how would I contact John B? His site has no place for "demos" :( Do you know of any other labels who would be interested on it? I've heard about Argon Records, for example.
About drum'n'braz: Well, Marky, Patife & co. are doing a very good job, I like drum'n'braz too. However, I don't want to be some kind of "cover", re-making what they're already doing... I'm currently experimenting on bossa nova too, but I'm borrowing some elements from epic trance and acid techno as well. In the end, it'll be drum'n'braz too, but with a new taste... hopefully :toothless |

hehe. With the harmony thing I just meant that it could use some spice in the part that is just the synth. You did a nice harmony with the bass before that happens... I don't know, when the synth is playing by itself it sounds like something is missing. Doesn't sound as pro.
I have no idea how to contact John B, but you should email this to some label after you're done working with it. It's that good.
Yeah and about drum & brazz there's no need to imitate what Marky and Patife are doing, it's just doing music with flavor, that's what standing out right now.
Good luck! :) |

Oh, I see :) Well, this weekend, I'm gonna change that synth anyway for another one not from Fruity Loops (plus, I might add an auxiliar harmony), so it'll solve this problem :D
Here's what I'm planning to do:
1) Substitute the main synth by another one not from fruity :)
2) Add some intro beats (so it'll be DJ Friendly)
3) Re-master it so the bass and the beat will be stronger
4) Add some more synths to make the sound richer, if possible.
5) Work on a remix closer to ordinary dnb (for die-hard junglists :D).
I'm also working on a couple of other tracks and I promised to remix a tune from another TA....
... so many things to do, so little free time :p That's what he have weekends for  |

| Good luck! My junglist friend heard it and liked the concept a lot too. He only said that the drums should come out more, they're too in the backgroup. But I like it like that cuz it's more atmospheric. Whatever. Keep the good work! |

i will state before i say anything about the tune, trance n bass really aint my thing :p
but however it does sound pretty good in places, the lead synth is very nice, maybe u need to elaborate on it, make it do something a wee bit different around the 5 minute mark onwards.
production sounds very good, and (as far as i can tell, as i said im not into this stuff) its stuctured nicely :) the beat is very good.
another note to add.. take it down to -10 pitch and its a pretty sweet breaks track :D
but, get a better encoder, its @ 128k and u can tell :) use the encoder in CEpro/2000 because it does 128k and u can hardly tell the difference between that and 160k :)
all in all, i think ur experiments are working well ;) |

tu_face: I had realised the synth was a bit repetitive after the 5:00 mark, and I'm going to re-build the whole tune (it'll be shorter, more DJ-friendly and I'll add some more synths). About the encoder, I used musicmatch because of mp3.com  However, I'm prolly gonna use another software next time - I've already got X-ing mpeg and Cool Edit... and I'm gonna host my own tunes somewhere else.
Thanks for telling me about the -10 pitch thing: I had not tried it before, and I liked the results
Az: Cheers :) I'm kinda busy right now but I'm gonna upload some other tunes soon :toocool:
DJ Pío: I'll do my best :D |
