To settle an Argument with Mikey Mike in IRC, gonna take it to the polls, as to who has been the best pioneer for their sound

4 guys

Paul Van Dyk

the late, great Tony De Vit (R.I.P)

Paul Oakenfold

John Digweed

Tony De Vit was the king of hard house, so maybe u dont get him cos of ur views, but he was no way overrated, just played something not all ppl consider popular :)

Um, how about none of the above?

As commercial as Oakey is today, he spearheaded the trance movement. Because of his influence in bringing trance to full brillance (not his productions), I consider him the top pioneer out of those listed.

Oakey was and always will be a follower, not an innovator... I've been around this so long I've seen him switch styles FOUR times now (trance/techno, goa, uplifting. and now trancepop.)

If any one person can lay claim to being the sprearhead of the trance movement, it's Sven Vath! It's more likely his band of cronies on Harthouse Records (Olive Lieb, Harfloor, Resistance D, etc.) as a group are responsible for trance becoming a genre of its own...

i cant agree on any........ oakey is probably this biggest pioneer, cos he was part of the birth of the club culture, but tony de vit was the birth of hardhouse and he has so much respect for it, everyone hoo did respesct TDV... still does.... half of oakeys fans no longer give a cos hes made a few mistakes in his time...... but i deffo haver to say that oakey is the biggest pioneer

Oakenfold. In previous years he has made an effort in putting his forward. So what if he has jumped genre bandwagons. As long as in that duration, he brought forth more understanding to it.
In any case..a lot of DJs/producers do switch from genre to genre anyways, so it should not be a factor in evaluating this.

And I'll be honest..I dont know much about Tony De Vit..unfortunate to hear of his death. What did he die of?
