alright here i go again. i am so serious about moving to the uk and finishing off my degree there. i am actually getting to hate america at this point and all the bull that comes with this country, and well i've fallen in love with your rainy country. :p i know for sure i do not want to live in america for the rest of my life, so a degree from this country would mean . plus my gf (and future wife) :D is in england, so finishing my degree there wouldn't exactly be a disadvantage :p
here's the deal, ucas is pissing me off. ALL I WANT IS A LIST OF "GOOD" COMPUTER SCHOOLS! :p preferably around the london area (about an hour or two away from london is fine as well). i'm actually looking at getting two degrees, computer science (programming) and information studies (atleast thats what its called here, networking basically). but i'd be happier doing the networking in my life than programming, but if possible, i'd like to do both degrees. get paid more :D
now i've done 2 years here in america so far, and i know the majority of my credits will not transfer over, and i don't really care, cuz we have some stupid "general" knowledge they make us do, so we basically waste our first two years taking worthless classes like english 101 and 102, geography, music, astronomy, speech, history, etc, etc. but i have taken some classes that might actually mean something. college algebra, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus I, calculus II (taking now), physics a (taking now), c programming. so i highly doubt they'll make me retake pre-cal for example. also if grades mean anything, i have a ing badass gpa (3.73) cuz i work my ass off. basically, i've only ever gotten four B's. the rest is all A's. in two years. no i'm not bragging, just proud. :toothless
but all i really need is a list of good computer schools (networking and programming) so i can e-mail the schools and ask them some questions about international students and , and what i need to do. but ing ucas doens't tell me how good a school is.
UCAS :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:
:p thanks for all the help uktas! hopefully i'll be one by sept/oct as well. :p |

no, i haven't tried phoning them yet. i might if all else falls through, the thing that sucks though, its gonna cost a load of money. last night an hour convo with my gf cost me $20. now thats ing love.
but i'm hoping to just not even have to deal with ucas yet. i just wanna find some potential schools right now and then just e-mail them directly. they'll be more willing to help me anyway, since they'll be getting my money. greedy s. :p |

Since you need to be within a couple of hours of London your choices are limited. I'd get out a map of UK university locations and cross-reference that with those that offer a course you want.
Then hit the uni's websites and check out past grades etc.. to get an idea of which offers the best oppertunities.
Good luck. |

Good computer schools in London eh?
Basically, as a true Londoner, (so no point asking this northern bunch :p) I'm the one to ask!
The best of teh bunch is probably the Imperial College. This is rated as the 3rd best university in teh COuntry, for all subjects. My uncle went there and did some sorta computing degree and was commended or something, so it can t be bad.

I've also done some work for u Flo, and UCL (University College of London) also has a department of computer SCience. UCL is also in the top 10 best unis in the country.

or www.ucl.ac.uk for the main site
The London School of Economics also offers an Information Technology department

Hope that helps. If u need any more info about London, just ask me, I'm sure i could come up with a better idea than these silly northerners :haha: :haha: :haha: j/k I luv ya all really :toothless |

well, not a loan from the english gov't. i didn't mean that, but there has to be something for international students, scholarships, or loans. probably not done through the gov't, but i would be very suprised if there is NOTHING. i'm not saying, i would even get it, but applying is worth it. i'm just gonna e-mail some unis and find out i guess. |
