DJ with best mixing skills (pg. 2)
View this Thread in Original format
DJ El Kay Dee
umm from my amatuer perspective:

Marco V (still cant get over how he mixed the oboe song into his set)
Dave Seaman
DJ Tiesto (:D)
Ckerr812
For Dance music:

Digweed, Carl cox.

For Turntabalism:

Kid koala

But mixing 4/4 beats is not really that hard, Just because Digweed uses way better equipment (brings his own), to his gigs, means it will sound better then most dj's because they use what ever they are given, does that make him a better mixer...I guess so.

Sasha (anyone ever heard GU 18 can attest wow, you can hear the pops, that mix is done with vinyl, incredible)

Hate to rain on yer parade but NICK WARREN DID GU018 but he is an amazing mixer also but gu013 showed why sasha is one of the greatest.

Now to greatest mixers

John Digweed (guy can mix thru any genre and no tiesto trainwrecks here)
Sander Kleinenberg (yes his mixing lets him down but if he is on...he owns and very nice guy too but smokes too much)
Sasha (nuff said)
James Lavelle (his mixing is great)
Most technical mixer I ever heard was Danny Tenagliaa.....his skills are so good...like his music or not)
and to end Jeff Mills, 4 decks....so many records...flawless

Luke Fair's mixing is amazing, I've seen him 3 times.

yea..but turntabilism is mixing, and alot more skilled mixing at that. It's hard to judge who is a better mixer in the dance music genre, because that would just depend on who has the better equipment, IE: better sound cut off frequencies, and cleaner filters on there mixer.

yea, not many people know this, but Mauro was one of the first Italian Dj's to win the DMC mixing competitions back in the early 90's.

And if I am not mistaken, is the only Dance (trance, Techno, proggy), dj that has a DMC mixing title.

Mauro is an amazing dj.

But he can be SLOPPY on 4 decks, even 3. I'd rather listen to someone mixing tight on 3 decks than sloppy on 4.

I'd say Umek is a fantastic mixer, Carl Cox, Monika Kruse also.

IMO Breaks are the easiest, the treble mixes so nice.

dunno what your talking about man, but do you really listen to breaks or just basing it by facts? have you ever thought about that all breaks have different categories of basslines, and just that makes it diffucult to mix :eyes: ive seen already a couple of top notch breaks dj's (Adam Freeland, B.L.I.M, Hybrid, Meat Katie) and they all spun amazingly well breaks :) treble may mix nice, but real mixing to me is if a dj knows how to mix basslines together to perfection ;) house & progressive are kinda similar styles when it comes to mixing, but house is a bit harder, coz there's a lot varieties of house that have different basslines (tribal, progressive, funky, etc.)
for me i'd say the hardest to spin is dnb/jungle as the hardest, second hardest breaks & house...
best house mixing skills goes to Lee Burridge, Eric Morillo, Danny Tenaglia & Tom Stephan (very unique style of mixing)..dunno about Danny Howells coz i haven't seen him yet, but he's coming here soon :D
best breaks mixing goes to Adam Freeland...
best trance mixing PVD, AVB, DJ Orkidea & John 00 Fleming, but PVD is the better from all of them :)
