i though of trying logic like you and Vortex, but it will get no more updates for PC , right ? so i decided to wait for FL studio 4... but this orion sure looks super!!

There are lotsa windows that are needed to be open in the same time, kinda not nice.
but it reminds me alot the ideas of fruity loops, looks great. all the synth there, also more FX than in fruity... |

Bleh.
Looks like another lame GUI-centered program with no way to do anything quickly. Want to change a parameter? You have to click and drag your mouse exactly right... Want to add a loop to the sequencer? Click and drag... In Buzz I can insert 20 patterns into to my sequencer with 20 keys. "0123456789abcdefghij" or "01010101010101010101" or whatever, depending on what patterns I want to play. Looks like in Orion, like in all these other fun "user friendly" GUI-centered programs, I'm going to have to click and drag 20 times...
Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure doesn't look like there is anywhere to type in data in any of those screenshots...
Along these lines, does anyone know of a program like Buzz (or even at least like what I described above -- something that doesn't make you do everything with your mouse)? I love Buzz, but the bugs and problems I am running into, mainly with trying to use it with hardsynths, are driving me nuts. I don't want to spend my time trying to make my software work, I'd rather spend it writing music... so I am trying to find some other programs that might be as good (I doubt this), or almost-as good.
Right now I'm going to try out Renoise and Psycle, and maybe some other trackers like Skale and ModTracker. An other suggestions would be great! |

I reckon you should try one of the 'standard' sequencers like Cubase SX, Logic or Sonar. I use Cubase SX myself.
Before Cubase, I used various trackers, but mainly MODPlug tracker to produce. When I first tried Cubase I thought it was unecessarily clumsy and just too much work to get the stuff done. I just hung in there cuz I didn't want to miss out on the excellent soft synths available. Eventually I did get used to it and now everything goes automatically. Didn't take much time either. U can set up custom keyboard shortcuts to commands and save different window arrangements to different shortcuts as well. I think all three sequencers are pretty much the same feature wise, so the best would be to test and see which interface suits you the best.
I recently tried Buzz again, and I have to say that it's a wicked program. Don't think I will switch though as I suspect I would only use my vsts and direct x plugins anyway. Also checked out Psycle a long time ago, but if I remember correctly I didn't like it that much.

Thanks! I'll check out a demo of Cubase SX when I get home from work and see what it is like.
Can't be worse than Fruity Loops, that's for sure... ;) |

Check out Muzys

It's a cheaper alternative to Cubase, Sonar, and the likes, but it has some very powerful editing features. The way it functions is a little different from the others, but once you figure it out you'll be moving along easily. I myself use Cubase, but sometimes I play around in Muzys when I've hit a dry spell. |
