How to make a mix cd?

My friend me to use a mini disc player (dont have one)
my other friend told me to use a cd recorder (dont have one)
this dude told me to use my computer (i DO have one :toocool: )
What kind of computer program do I need to use?

| best method i have heard is to use a multi-track recording app (cool-edit comes to mind)...you drop your first track on to track1 of the recording...then que your second record against the recorded version and drop it on track two...que record three against the recording of record two and drop it either on track three or back on track one...i'd recomend one track per record...then when they have all been recorded...you can go back through and EQ master the Mix together and clean it up etc etc etc...let me know if you need more details |

The application i mentioned was Cool Edit Pro here's a link...

It is the only multi-track application I have any real experience
with...
I was about to go into a long winded re-explanation but decided i should ask a couple questions first...
Are you familiar with basic Multi-Track recording tecniques?
Are you familiar with Recording audio (too any extent) on a computer?
If so this is pretty easy...if not i can locate some resources to explain it bit...
Didn't want to explain things that you may already know and sound all pompous... |

| Use sonic foundrys acid 4. There probably isnt a better program for mix cds than that. Its beatmapper couldnt be easier to use. |

| It's fair enough using a multitrack to record your mix piece by piece, but if you want to do the whole lot in one go, just turn on some recording software (e.g. Total Recorder) and hit record :) |

To create a mixing cd on computer the best pice of software to use is Acid v4.0. It includes all features such as volume, bass, frequency, Fx control Etc Etc. I use it now and again but mainly use it wen i cant b arsed to mix the cd on my turntables. You can use Mp3 files within the program and it also includes a beat matching faeture which is really good.

Live mixes always sound better. More life, more energy. Automate the hell out of a mix and you kill it, it's too clinical. |
