Yesterday I finally had time to mess with cubase 5. I was a bit overwelmed by the amount of options that it offers. BS-- actually that programed spanked me hard,,, way too many options!!!! I need like a tutorial on it or something. I guess it would be phat to make it big. For me, crativity is not a problem. I feel that it just takes a lot of work. Lots of time. But, after a while, just like anything, you will be able to produce songs in not that long of a time. I think I read some interview about Airwave, where he mentioned producing some songs in only about a day, and that he didn't like the way they sounded, but then he woke up the next day and he fulled around with the track some more, and then it sounded great. Some people just have a natural talent (kinda like drawing).

I don't even mix with tables or have any actual equipment. I do all my mixing on the PC using mixvibes. It's really cool how PC software has progressed. I really don't think that you need pro equipment to produce an excellent trance song, but you might need some pro software.

hey, found this thread when i was looking for a Cubase tutorial. yea i do want to produce music and i'm working my way towards that goal: gonna study Recorded Music Production in college next year, and if i'm good enough, i wanna get into the ACM College (Academy of Contemporary Music) in Guildford, England.

anyhow, it's my dream to become an electronic music producer. not really for money and fame (although they could be a nice extra :D), it's just that i feel that i can do it like Hybrid, Oliver Lieb, and BT do. even tho my musical background is next to zero, i can sometimes come up with pretty neat melodies or beats in my head (kinda like Tranzmit i guess. bit less these days 'cos i'm learning DJ'ing, and making my first demo mix tape), it's just a shame that i know jack about music theory and software (which i'll learn next year in college), so i still can't write down my ideas on, say, Cubase, Buzz or Reason. Peter i dunno if your offer is still valid after one whole year, and if it is, i'd be eager to learn from you. and thanks again for the soft synth thread, i installed Waldorf Attack and Pentagon because of it. (still haven't gotten around to learn them tho, i'm learning DJ'ing at the moment)

so what i'm planning to do, is to produce trance tunes, which i can use as gap fillers, and release some of them if they're good enough. all i have for music production is an Athlon 1.3GHz laptop w/ 256mb RAM, loaded with Cubase SX, Wavelab, a good handful of soft synths, 5gb of samples. just FYI.

thank you for reading,

Hey DJ Pete. I'd love to do music (Trance) production. I don't know if I'll ever have enough musical knowledge to do it but i know one thing and that is I do have the heart part right . i'll walking down the road and I can hear this tune in my head arranged perfectly. It's overwhelming and i just think "it's too bad I don't know how to produce". Anyways plz give me whatever info/help u can.

i know wat u guyz mean, once u get started humming/thinking the tune in ur head... the tune keeps going as well and u just think how mad it is, (well i think newayz) yeh, i would luv to be a good producer, but not for fame, just for the love of trance and love of good music, but i must be the furtherest behind when it come to technology, my comp must be 6 years old... Pentium 1, 2 gigz only!! and God knows how fast this thing can go, *sigh*

I want to get into production as well but don't know how, I want to create the music the I love so much :)

I imagine being a producer and a dj at the same time is very difficult to juggle. If youre busy going to gigs at night making a name for yourself, you wouldnt have all that much time to produce and vice versa.
But if you still want to do it, u could always start off with a beat machine, a nice keyboard, mixer, effects machines, some good software, tables (duh!), and some really nice speakers.
Then after youre done making a track, you can get it pressed to vinyl and spin it at a club and see how it turns out. Dont send every song you make to a label without getting plenty of crowd approval. People will stop taking you seriously if you send too many mediocre stuff.
Acid Circus
I would like to become a big producer, I can see it happening within the next 5 years if I keep working hard at it, I am making some good sounds but as yet I am unable to make a complete tune that I am happy with. And I won't release a tune or let others hear my work until I am completely happy with it.

As for DJ'ing, I am running my own club night where I am resident along with a good DJ friend. I am going to be playing alongside Flutlicht in December making me reach another personal goal which I have set myself. This time next year I hope to be big in Scotland!

..i didnt read this whole thread..
so if i get off topic so sorry..heres a cookie for your troubles

but yes..i want to make it big in the trance scene. more as a dj..then a producer. but u gotta produce to get known..i know this
but i feel so at home behind the decks. I already have a residency at a hot club..only after spinning after a year. i have picked it up very fast..and im good. not good to where every mix is like bam..right there..perfect and smooth. but i have the skills and knowledge of how to get myself out of trouble. like if records start slipping..i dont freak out..and not know which way to correct them.
i just have this feeling that its going to work out..and it will happen...
