I have to do a politics essay for this friday. 6 pages, double-spaced on the legalization of drugs. I think they should all be legalized and I have some points and although I'm a good writer I don't know how good my essay is going to be since I have 2 days to write it and I need current statistics and supporting facts. Anyone done any research on this before and would be able to give me some links, or write it for me :toothless lol. I have some links allready but any help is appreciated since I'm short for time and I really need this to boost my mark up.
My thesis is:
Because of problems like the 175,000 cocaine-related emergency room episodes in 1999(1) , the government should legalize drugs and handle the production and distribution of them.
All I could think of.......... But I need current stats and more supporting facts :( |

| Go to www.bluelight.nu they have a news forum with all the latest pro/con news about drugs. You could get all your supporing quotes from there and have all the footnote data to go along with it. Problem is, is that most news articles tend to be anti-drug so good luck. |

argue that alcohol/tobacco kill many more people a year. Not sure of the numbers, you can find them easily on google or something. also argue that by decriminalizing it, you take away the glamor of doing it, and less people will do it. This has been proven in holland, where you can now smoke weed in bars and home and and not get busted. Weed use has gone down since that law was passed. Also argue that your body belongs to you, and that no government or anyone else should tell a responsable adult what he can or can not put in his own body, unless he endangers others in the process (like getting smashed then driving or something). Also, the war on drugs costs billions in tax dollars and dozens of police lives. Police themselves say that its a hopeless fight. Also, if the government taxed the hell out of drugs like they do beer and cigs, they could make a whole lot that could help go to rehabilitating people or other uses.
That should get you to 6 pages easy. Double spaced really cuts it down in half, so its more like 3 pages. Shouldnt be too tough =) |

| I'll go for stats for USA or Canada. Either works but I guess Canada is prefered. Also they need to be recent, like the last 2 years I guess but the more recent the better. |
