Fat lead programing

Can enyone help me with the basics on how 2 program a fat lead ( but it needs 2 be poly not mono ) ?
Or if enyone knows where i can find a guide on the net or some patches..
I use : fm7 , absynth, pro52, es2...
Are these synths eny good for this kind of sound ?

Buy the book Sound Synthesis and Sampling (what I have been reading lately).
Make an effort to learn what different effects sound like. Learn the vocabulary. Read up on how subtractive synthesis works. Then read up on other types of synthesis. Learn what you are doing to a waveform when you turn some dial. And lastly, fool around with a synthesizer as much as you can. Don't load up a preset and just use that.
One other thing you can do is load up a preset, listen to it, look at the settings, then set everything to 0 (or off, or whatever). Now try to recreate the preset. But HAVE THE SYNTH PLAY as you are doing this! If you get stuck, load up the preset, look at the settings again, set everything back to 0, and start over. By doing this, you gain an understanding of what different settings actually do to the sound.
All this stuff will make it SO MUCH EASIER to sit down and get the sound you want from a synth. I can't tell you how much easier it is for me already, just having read parts of that book I mentioned above. Having an understanding of what the different knobs and sliders and such actually are doing is crucial. |

i have no idea what ur looking for then.....'fat' is a bit vague really.....trouble with soft synths is they dont come with any effects preset-up with the synth sound...do u use logic?
if so.....turn on es2 stick an 8 pole phazer followed by tape delay on the es2 preset called 'big trance now!'.....now if u dont think thats fat enough ...u r gonna have a whole lotta frustration if u wanna be a producer.......

That is exactly what i do now :) .. but thanks for the other info m8.
modular - i use logic and i saw that patch.. i even learnd how 2 make it.. but it just dosnt sound good enough when i compare it to the sound that i want (that a hear in other tracks )... it sounds lame. an also its mono wich is a problem... |

if you dont want it mono...doh!!!....switch it to poly perhaps....????

Hey Coby, sometimes what u hear in songs arent exactly one lead, it may be 2 instances of the same one, the top one with more ressonance or a cut LFO and the other with some distortion and lower frequency (just for an exemple).
Try to get 2 or more of the same (or not) sound together and mess up with the configurations and frequencies to see if u can get something like u want

turn up the unison voices on the es2. it will have similar effect to what this guy is saying.......im still freaking:eyespop: |

Yeah, its true!
Too much chicken wings makes u very fat, so it may work for the sound too. Lets just trhow some chiken wings at the synths.
