I just recorded my first set using soundforge 5.0. i thought i was recording it in 192 kb but when i saved it it only came out at 64 kb.Not only that but it sounds terrible!! the bass is way to loud and distorted and the treble is way off key.also i cant burn it onto a disc because my nero says it doesent support the file ,it only supports cd format of 44,100 16 bit sound.CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE?! what am i doing wrong?...thanks for anybodys help!!

It sounds to me like your clipping it. Go into the volume control on your PC and turn down the line in fader. Record a snippet with the fader at the bottom and see how that sounds. Move it slightly up if it’s too quiet and record a snippet again. Repeat this till you’ve got the levels just right.

Also, I would recommend you record it to wav first then encode it instead of recording it straight into MP3.

i have the same problem witht the sound quality. But when you burn it, is it in wav format?
Spin Doctor
When you burn a track to CD it’s stored as a wav on the CD?

No. I believe it's a similar format that is adapted.

does anyone know how to change the temp directory for sound forge?
ie the place where it temporarily stores recordings... my win drive is full and it won't let me record...

I don't understand if the problem is that you save in mp3 file and the file has a bitrate of 64 Kb and not of 192Kb.
If this is your problem when you choose mp3 like the format of the file to save standard bitrate is set @ 64 Kb. You can choose it by a menu in the same window called template or similar.

check your save/export setting (all of them) before saving. I've made the same mistakes before.
