| but their new album doesnt compare to much of their older work. Their older work seemed to have much more melody energy to it. Maybe it's just me. :conf: |

yeh but psy trance has gone to more of a minimal progressive sound int he last few years.
i think astral have a wider audience now as where 5 years ago it was more underground and psy was barley spoken of as a genre of music in the media. alot of pressure is on their shoulders. |

I never said their new album was better than their older stuff... their old stuff i.e. trust in trance is still the best but the AMEN album as compared with the psy albums that are coming out at the moment (2002) all tend to take a similar form (lean towards the progressive side, rather than the melodic full on side)
the only other recent psy albums i can think of off the top of my head at the moment that has avoided the progressive trend are the new Element and Astrix albums... They are also worth checking out... |

the old stuff has more melody, but I think Amen has more energy thanks to some of the faster basslines, & more chaotic FX (Chaos, Techno Drome) Chaos is my favorite tune on this album, and this is the best trance album I've heard. I dunno, this one really suits my taste in music perfectly.
Astrix is good, if you like his music, check out the groups, Alien Project, Atomic Pulse & Cyber Cartel. |
