nope, I wasn't talking about that model......
Sennheiser have headphones that don't cover up the ear.... they just "sit" on the ear....... I saw a DJ in a club use those once.... I was wondering about their isolation and if he can mix decently with them... btw, the DJ didn't mix very well... but then again maybe it's the DJ and not the headphone's isolation..... :p

Nah, usually one can manage well enough without having "perfect sound" from their monitors. In particular, you don't even need to have the cueued up channel that high in volume at all, in order to be able to mix well. Just hearing a slight beat, and some hihats, is usually good enough. And in a loud environment, you usually can't hope for much more than that. :D

As for the headphones, maybe he had these? The HD-25's fit the description of "just sit on the ear" (supraural) (sp?):

Perhaps - but not owning an HD-25 myself, the only other thing I can say on this matter without BS'ing is that these are supposed to be very good DJ'ing phones.

YMMV.

IMO, Sennheiser makes three KICKASS DJ headphones.

1.) Entry-level / Home stuff:

Sennheiser HD212 Pro

(should completely whoop those V150's... hell, whoop the V700DJ in sound quality, easy!) BTW, did anyone notice that those Behringer phones look, erm, QUITE OPEN?! That makes me suspicious

http://www.headphone.com/layout.php...ctID=0020080212

2.) Moving up the line, we have the studio monitor / also great for DJing:

Sennheiser HD280 Pro

http://www.headphone.com/layout.php...ctID=0020080280

3.) And if the 'kinda difficult to power to club level' is bad for your needs... you want a *clubphone*, you have the awesome, but sadly, not flashy-looking:

Sennheiser HD25

P.S. I'm trying to get Headroom to rewrite their stuff on DJ headphones, including the info for these three..

P.P.S. Sennheiser also sells the EH2200 (i believe it sells those under another name too), and those are known to be pretty mediocre.. as are the HD25-SP.

btw, there is a post at head-fi about the Behringeres, but no one has tested them out yet. If you are curious, read here:

DJ Kibon
Hi,

Thanks for pointing out the post about the new Behringer headphones on the other forum.

I have a feeling that these Behringer HPX2000 will be an excellent choice for entry level headphones, pehaps even stretching into mid-range in terms of sound quality and features (i.e. swiveling mechanism). By comparison, a very cheap pair of Sony headphones is $30 CND, and the next model up of Sonys (DJ500 model) are about $100 CND.

We'll just have to wait until someone gets their hands on the headphones before we can comment on sound quality...

Alccode
If these Behringer's sound anything remotely good, and work remotely well for DJ'ing, I'm sure they have the potential to compete with the V700's -- they look great, and are much cheaper than the mucho expensive v700's.

Just my opinion.

Or like DJ Kibon said, they might turn out to be excellent, if not ideal, for entry-level headphones that could last well into the mid-range level.
Slizer
I ordered them a few days ago (22 january)
I hope they'll arrive soon! :)

I'll post here what I think of them after I tested them :toocool:
