Because it's not socially appropriate for guys to be overly expressive, whereas it is socially appropriate for girls -- indeed expected of them -- to be that way. That's part of the social fiber of our lives.

Wanna hear something interesting?
Many psychologists believe that the reason why it's thought that men have a "higher sex drive" (which of course is stupid, both sexes have the same drive) is because men feel socially safe express their emotions only during sex.

Also, sexyfairy... when you say "emotions", what kinds of emotions are you talking about? Sadness/tears? Love? Anger? Anger is not an emotion that we feel compelled to hide...

I don't think it's a no no. I think I'm pretty open with my feelings, maybe too open :D

Heres the question....Why is it such a no no to show ur feelings to a girl???? Thats what i wanna know!!!

Maybe the girl already has someone else in her mind and don't want to make things complicated by knowing your feelings towards her?

Well... ... if 'this girl' likes 'this guy' why does she wait until he says something? It's about time she did the hard part :)

Ok well I don't think it's shyness that stops a guy from showing his emotions/feelings to a girl (ie sensetive side?). For me anyway it's mostly whenever I did do that in the past it tended to freak the girl out. Being too emotional and opening up to a girl too much too fast was what did it. I mean I don't do it as much anymore but it's hard though sometimes.

confidence plays a big role in this. If i'm not confident that the emotions will be returned to me, I keep my mouth shut. But then again, that's probaly why i'm single. :sadgreen:

Nope, it's not just shyness.

Last year, I met a wonderful girl. Many many things happened between us and one day, she said she loved me. Every girl to whom I had said "I love you" in the past got hurt and I didn't want it to happen again... ironically, not being able to say it that time hurt her as well after all. :sadgreen:

There are many reasons why a bloke might hide his feelings. If you get to know the person, you'll probably find out the reason. There's no such thing as a "general answer"

Sometimes its a good thing to honestly express your emotions, and other times its not. Use your own discretion as to how you do things, along the guidelines etc.

"Ultimately to me, Martial Arts, means, honestly expressing yourself, when you pour water into a cup it becomes the cup when you pour water into a teapot it becomes the teapot, water can flow or it can crash, be like water my friend and just keep on flowing." -Bruce Lee(1940-1973)
I hope that makes some sense but i thought it would be helpful.

I am an incensitive bastard.
But we can't all be the same.
