There's no such thing: music kept evolving and one day anthems appeared :D
Besides, there's also anthem house, so it's hard to decide what was what in the beginning :) |

| For me personally, the first trance anthem is Cygnus X - Superstring [Rank 1 Remix]. There probably are a lot of anthems which are older (Café Del Mar, 7 Cities, ...), but this track is the first one I labelled as anthem. |
