I'd get:
RME Hammerfall DSP w/Multiface (I think it is better than the MOTU, and only slightly more expensive). It comes in PCI card or CardBus version. (+/- $1000)
Some decent MIDI keyboard and/or other controller. (+/- $200)
Event 20/20 bas monitors (+/- $750) Possibly something even better. Or possibly M-Audio Studiophile SP-5Bs if you are running out of money (IMO, after a lot of research, the best $300 speakers out there).
Virus Access B or C (or maybe KB or KC -- dunno what the keyboard is like). (+/- $1000, off ebay)
Roland Juno 106, or some other nice analog synth. (+/- $400)
Good PC, if you don't have one. Personally, I'd go for a laptop -- less noise, less space, you can move it around, etc. -- that is what I use with a Hammerfall CardBus version (actually, a clone of the Hammerfall -- made by Steinberg/Nuendo). (+/- $2000)
That is slightly more than $5000, but you can also configure a slightly less expensive computer, and/or get Studiophiles and/or get a Virus A instead of a B or C (actually, even a B will be cheaper than $1000 on ebay -- probably more like $750).
Have fun. :) |
