The Digital Blonde/(s)

I love the sound of Ricky Smith's project, particularly the older productions and remixes. Originally the project was called "Digital Blondes" and formed by Ricky Smith and F. Warwick in 1996 for Fluid Recordings in the UK. The first release was a track called "Antheum" which is a way ahead of it's time melodic trancer. The project became "The Digital Blonde" in 1999 when Warwick left it.

As for the later works, "Electra" one of the most uplifting tracks I've ever heard.

Here is a discography I've compiled. I'm pretty sure there are many tracks on here which I've left out but since there is no official discography, I just had to compile one out of the various sources I had.

I left out remixes of their own productions.

Productions:

The Digital Blonde - Mooga
The Digital Blonde - Noctone
The Digital Blonde - Optica
The Digital Blonde - Electra
The Digital Blonde - Sutra
The Digital Blonde - Legato
Digital Blondes - Heaven
Digital Blondes - Antheum

Remixes:

Amen UK - People Of Love (Digital Blondes Spiritual Mix)
Amen UK - People Of Love (Digital Blondes Freedom Mix)
Ariel - Deep (I'm Falling Deeper) (Digital Blondes Seriously Positive Mix)
Andora - Bladerunner (The Digital Blonde Remix)
Casino - Sound Of Eden (Digital Blondes Out Of A Bottle And Emotional Mix)
Coyote - Spirits Dancing (Digital Blondes Ghost Mix)
Elcka - Pleasure (The Digital Blonde Remix)
Friends Of Matthew - Out There (Digital Blondes Millenium Mix)
Generation X - Kooky Ballerina (Digital Blondes Peroxide Mix)
Jeremy Healy & Amos - Argentina (Digital Blondes Gothic Mix)
John 00 Fleming - Lost In Emotion (The Digital Blonde Remix)
Oktavia - Katria (Digital Blondes Europa Mix)
Sandman - Coimbra (Digital Blondes Floor Mix)
The Def Set - Ogo (Digital Blondes End Of An Era Mix)
Vincent De Moor - Flowtation (Digital Blondes Mix)
Yazoo - Don't Go (The Digital Blonde Instrumental)

For me, the absolute definition of uplifting, non cheesy, epic trance that takes you on a journey is Legato. It's my favourite trance track of all time, and I don't think any other production will come close to it.

Legato 2002 wasn't merely as good. I heard from J00F that Ricky Smith will be releasing a new version of it, a lot more uplifting than the 2002 mix and more energetic too.

you got my favorite digital blondes tune in there hehehehe....

VINCENT DE MOOR - FLOWTATION (DIGITAL BLONDES MIX)!!!!!!

one of my old favorites...what a big beat hehehe.

Some definite producing talent here. As mentioned, Electra and Legato are awesome tracks with the former being my favourite. However, I'd have to say Optica supersedes them both -- a classic rolling trancer. My favourite remix would have to be their take on The Def Set's "Ogo" which is something special indeed. :)

Might I add that it's a totally underrated track. Some people like Ligaya (too overhyped too), but don't even know what Legato is.

It's a crime how Legato was criminally overlooked by DJs too. I guess back in 2001, they thought that sound was dead.
