makes it more of a treat when we get internationals and events and also the fact trance doesnt hit the charts (like it does in Holland and other european places) |
Summed it up PERFECTLY :) |

I wouldn't say it's dead at all, it's continuing to grow and evolve.
There is a new weekly event happening called "Rocket" at Icebox, I'm told harder uplifting trance is played there, and that's what it says on the flyer too. It's a welcome change to the the emotionless hard trance of Sublime and Plastic.
I was at Plastic last Friday and I was glad that DJ Nervous played an uplifting trance set. The rest of the night was hard trance and hard house though. |

Depends what you define as dead.
IMO:
If it were dead as you claim it to be we wouldnt have trance giants like Paul or even Armin visiting our shores.
If it were dead we wouldnt have large festivals going interstate promoting various contemporary sub-genres of trance.
If it were dead we wont have monthly nights in Sydney including that of trance.lucid and Rocket catering for a niche uplifting trance market
If it were dead Sydney's own super club Home would move on from their notoriously hard trance sound to other terrain on Friday nights
If it were dead we wouldnt have vibrant communities such as (TA)this and members of ITM dedicated week in week out to the music that drives them most and sends their emotions soaring
And finally, if were dead we would have prestigious super clubs like Gatecrasher & Gods constantly visiting our shores eager to promoter their own brand of indivdualistic superclubbing.
Trance dead? |

I think ppl mean has it stopped "progressing" as a musical genre not is it still played in australia.
is it a dead horse being flogged? i think it is. |

Of course its progressing - if it wasnt it wouldnt encounter such a success at events.
Transmission for example is progressing - from an event that has just local acts its 'progressed' to deliver punters well grounded intenationals.
Its been the most consistent IMO out of Sydney's trend whore-ish attitude amongst clubs. |

???
Is thats techno??? or hard trance... what we talking about here is PURE trance.. like back in Europe...
where the scene is dominated by trance.. but then again.. having a small following does make it more 3l33t... and imagine the s that go to those trendy clubs just for the sake of it... starting fights and .. we don't really want them in our events...
btw Pvd @ Home?? i though its unconfirmed?
Oh yeah.. and its not like trance is played every WEEK...
it would be nicer to open up a club just for trance.. imagine the quality that will start to drop by... anyone a club owner here ??? wanna make a diff to the scene? we will love you eternally for it. hehehe ;)
but then again.. it will bore as there will be no new ppl rolling in any time soon... since they will have to start geting to know the place.. new strategy.. trance [all genres and techno].. that way more funds to keep the place going.. and advertising... boardwalk chalk? thats cheap.. lol...remmeber PS2 advertising... it got me! HEHEHE |

I meant is the music progressing not "club nights". and the awnser is to me imho no. while ferry, pvd & avb etc are good producers they have themselves to blame for the state of trance. Sure their tracks are still good but time to thjink fresh was after 99 not 4 years later.
4x4 patterns & huge breakdowns are a trance trademark absolutley, but
it needs to move on. it needs to find some new structures & sounds if it can. because alot of it is just barbie & ken music Plastic, generic recycled crap. |
