... for anyone who lives in Louisiana or in New Orleans.
I'm going to Mardi Gras this year.
When is it gonna be? March 4?
Or is the action pretty much every day?
Also where can I buy beads, is there action during the night or daytime only, and how do I ask women to show their without getting slapped :D
Also, which streets/blocks/corners should I check out for maximum fun? :D
Any tips would be much appreciated. |

http://www.toomeys-mardigras.com/ u can buy beads online...the more exotic ur beads..the more girls will do to get them..its good to have a lot...but definately spend some extra cash on the big beads.
if u stay in the french quarter..ull have fun..its ideal to have a hotel right on bourbon street with a balcony looking over it..but if u dont have one by now..ur not gonna get one...dont bring nice clothes..they will just get trashed...jeans and t's is all u need. maybe one nice alphet incase u get invited to a private party..its the most drinking u will ever do in ur life so start training now |

ok i live for mardi gras, serisouly im addicted to everything it encompasses. for the past two years i've gone to BOTH weekends of mardi gras at galveston which is the second biggest after new-orleans seeing a crowd of million people over the festival period.
this year for the first weekend of mardi gras im going to galveston agian but during the second weekend (the big one right before fat tuesday) im going with a 2 or 3 friends to New Orleans. we're driving down in a friends truck and we're going to camp out in the bed of the truck when we crash asleep from our excessive sex and drinking.
Eugene, the big nights in new orleans are the friday and saturday before fat tuesday but as you said honestly its pretty much a two week non-stop party. the french quarter is where the party is at (its easy to get around there by foot), but honestly parades and music is spread throughout the entire city. about beads, you'll get tons of the cheap ones from all the parades and people on the balconies so dont bother buying those. what you want are the fancy ones, of course you can try and get them for free by doing what ever a girl wants (they usually love to see my ass ;)) you can also order a few online (i buy mine here in walmart a month ahead of time for cheap). anyways it'd be cool if we could meet up! |

So you're saying, then, that the weekend before is actually wilder than the main Tuesday event? In that case I'll fly there on a Sat./Sun. What would be a reasonable hotel in terms of cost?Is something like $150-200 a night possible to book right now?
(kirbtastic - I actually saw a few available hotels right in the French Quarter, I went to mardigras.neworleans.com - maybe you can advise me on a good deal?)
And if my hotel is a few blocks away from Bourbon st., can I just walk there and spend the whole day there? Will the street-walking and partying go through the night also, or will it end for the night? |

if i look for someone in general in the crowd of people that will be there i have no chance of finding you, i have greater odds being hit by lightning. ill give you cell phone numbers as time approaches and we'll plan to meet more specifically. who and how many are you coming with?
yes you would want to come on to enjoy that fri, and sat. sunday wouldnt be that big and tuesday is big but the thing is that it ends exactly at midnight where as the weekend lasts the whole night and day. if you can find a hotel in the french quarter do it, i would be surprised if they arent all booked by now, and prices are probably going to be insane. though if you're in the area everything is walkable and theres tons to see, like hand made cigar shop (you can watch them make it) and the famous cafe de munde along with the casino and musical preformers. |

Unfortunately Galveston's Mardi Gras has gone to crap in the past 3 years. In my opinion its getting worse, every year. We're definitely driving to New Orleans for a reason.
All I gotta say is,
if you're going to attempt to get a hotel in New Orleans right now, I wish you the best of luck.
Try to get a hotel within 30 miles of bourbon.

P.S. Buy beads massive wholesale. Buy beads cheap.
the better the beads, the better the show. and whatever you do, don't hand out the good ones to the non-worthy females! You will be asked about 102401294 times for the good ones, choose wisely, and bring a video camera.
