Progressive house tends to have a loop that will continually repeat throughout the song.
Progressive house tends to be slower
Progressive house has less "electronica" sounds. |

ok I think I get what you're saying

I wouldn't say prog house has less "electronica" sounds. There's some very techy prog house out there.
Prog trance basically prog house with euphoric-trance-type synths/chord changes imo. |

so what would
Bedrock - Emerald (Filterheadz Remix)
be considered? |

I've not heard it but I'm guessing it'd be prog trance. There's no real rules anyway, the debates about whether certain tunes are prog house / prog trance can span many many pages so I usually stay out of em :D
Also the definition varies globally, some refer to [what I call] euphoric/uplifting trance as "progressive". |

that would be prog house
prog trance tends to be a more minimal form of trance that doesn't so much rely on the intense kick and the forced melody, instead is rather more reserved. The melody takes longer to engage the listener because it grows throughout the song, little by little, getting bigger. But in the end there's not a huge chord movement or progression like trance, instead, rather melodic long chord tones that are still really uplifting, they're just not as loud and powerful as your typical trance melody.
eg: Afterburn - North Pole
Planisphere - Deep Blue Dream

hrmm i dont agree that progressive house is slower than prog trance. imo prog trance is alot more minimal sounding and more slooow :-/ old skool prog trance use to be faster imo.. and prog house doesnt necessarily have less electronic sounds  unless its like tribal or something. i think they tend to use more synths and computerized sounds...

| would cafe del mar (j00f remix) be considered progressive trance? |

prog trance IMO uses more synths and melodies closer to uplfting trance than prog house. prog house also tends to be more tribal, though this isn't a rule.
But nowadays there isn't really a limit for what can be considered house and what can be considered trance. Progressive is becoming a term that defines just a combination of house with trance. |
