| I'm not really blaming it on the tunes alone. But at this point I'm bored with mixing (after 9 years). I just want to see and wait if at some point I feel the urge to make a new mix again... |

Hey Dawn,
You have come along way man, but its disappointing to see you go. I would have liked to encourage you to get into HARDSTYLE cause the tracks in that department have not died at all. You had a great style but I have moved on to the harder scene, and it would have been good to see you in there too cause hardstyle is at the top.
Peace dude
AND GOODLUCK MAN ;) |

best of luck to you in whatever you'll be doing now... your mixes were awesome... i have all of them (i think, =P)... anyways.. hopefully, someone will produce something awesome to restore your faith in trance and inspire you to mix again...
hope you can find some other style of music you like so you can mix and keep your skills sharp... |

Hey, don't fret man. :) We all get creativity blocks at some point, or decide we've had enough with something.
My advice would be to chill out for a while, think about things, then go the way that feels right for you. :)
Whatever happens, good luck and most importantly, enjoy yourself! :) |

actually, my last mix is November 2002. Someone brought up this thread from the grave.

well, after over a year I'm still getting emails on an almost daily basis asking for past mixes, so the sig is there intentionally and I'm still sharing all my past stuff.
I planned to do a new mix in November 2003 and already announced it on DI.fm, but unfortunately suffered from acute hearing loss in my right ear and I'm still getting treatment for this. Still have -35db on my right ear for all freq below 1000Hz |

Well if I remember correctly you used to mix hardstyle and some hardtrance, well I used to like it but today I really dislike those styles (well there aren't a lot of good hardtrance)
Anyway I changed my music style a bit...went draker to the prog land :P but I still love trance - mostly tech trance , so when I'm gonna start djing soon I'm gonna play good tech trance and hard trance and if I can I'll put prog...
What I'm saying is that maybe you should try open up and listen to stuff that u didn't use to, cuz I say no logic about not liking the anything at all. |

Very sorry to hear this, and I also hope that the ear issue is resolved quickly for you.
I greatly enjoyed your mixes, something that I'm definately not alone in, as you can see by this thread.
About the only thing that I can suggest is that you need to do exactly what you're doing - take a break. Then come back when you're ready, and perhaps release the odd recorded set if/when you feel like it. I think part of what you're experiencing might be burnout from making yourself do monthly mixes.
As for the quality of the "pro" tracks out there, I've commented a few times now on how many of the "amateur" Tranceaddict producers are consistently producing quality tracks that blow much of what's available on vinyl out of the water. A few names that come to mind are Bren-F, Endre, and Lightworks (wish I could list them all).
Best wishes,
John
