ok, to end all the questions about soulseek and finish the discussion, SOULSEEK IS NOT CLOSING.
Here's directly from one of the mboards:
Over the last couple days many users have complaied about not being able to connect to the soulseek network, or even their website. Some people fear that Soulseek may have gone the way of the buffalo. Well nothing could be further from the truth. I contacted the developer of soulseek earlier to get the low-down on whats going on.
steve says: Hey, I've had several users e-mail me and msg me on AIM/MSN asking if Soulseek was down, since a lot of users seem to be having problems connecting to the network. Was wondering if ya could tell me whats up so i can have something to tell them other than "i dont know, check back later to see if we find anything out"
*** Nir Says: Yeah, it's gonna be down for about three days. We're switching providers ***
Nir is the maker of soulseek, so whatever he says is true. EOF.

| Wouldn't it make sense to warn notify their users in advance that they were going to do this? Maybe they did and I just didn't notice? |

| well maybe his provider stormed out and refused to host his site anymore... then the only thing he'd have to do is to find another one or close down, so he decided to do the 1st option. Not sure if there is a soulseek mailing list, I'm not on it, so the only way to find out what's up was to email the guy... |

1. privilege system, muhahaha i like to cut in line.
2. less rules, hubs don't have any rules.
3. user list upload priority
4. the whole thing is kind of more organized.
cons: dunno, community isn't quite like DC's

| i joined soulseek in the idea of it being decent for trance and a place other than the hub, but its pretty naff. |
