Maybe SF and Exit should have done better pay-offs to the feds...like Gaitein did...
Drugs will always be a part of club culture...NOTHING will stop that...i personally do not do drugs...however maybe if Factory or Exit was more careful...by NOT letting 14 year old girls OD on K or E then like this would not happen....maybe they need the Mafia to run the drug trade in their clubs, because the juice heads who do it now apparently suck...since they sell to undercovers....
or maybe people should be more careful with there drug use....easier said then done i guess, since it keeps happening....but more often then not it is underage bridge and tunnel crowd ODing and brining the heat on these clubs....they should grow up and be more responsible or stop trying to keep up with the Jones' thinking its cool to get smashed beyond beleif as if they are invincible...

i heard SF was paying someone for quite a while cause my friend had a friend who was a cop and wasn't allowed to go there. but on the other hand, if they had an agreement with the feds, i guess it didn't apply to the state govt who busted them. |

| No1 cares. I hate both clubs. In my opinion they represent everything that is WRONG with our culture and our scene. They represent everthing that we are against and what the scene SHOULD NOT be. So in my opinion both these hell holes should be shut down. |

So whatcha gonna do when we got no clubs and just have bars that close at 2am??? That'd seriously SUCK.. I dunno how people party in Boston or Philly.. That closes waaay too early.. |

These clubs will never clean up because they exist for the sole purpose of enriching the owners..through drugs more than through patrons...We have only one owner in NYC who devoted himself to club land. Peter Gaishin. You remember him...Limelight/Tunnel owner. Now he was doing it because HE LOVED HOW WE WENT INSANE!!! Thats the true love for the music and club scene. I mean he managed to pack Limelight when noone thought it was possible and he brough Gatecrasher...I am sorry but SF and Exit is NOT for the true warriors of dance... |

Well if you look at the trend in UK all the major clubs went monthly
(Gatecrasher, Cream, etc) no1 wants to pay tremendous admission fees to hear DJs. So there is a new animal thats evolving now. Club/Bar. Admission is free, alcohol is fairly cheep. Make room for some dancing and you got a party...I mean yeah sounsystem might not be the best but hey its better than nothing. Fat Boy Slim threw a few parties like this already and they were a huuge sucess...Gives an opportunity to peeps to hang out with their hommies and not pay an arm and a right testicle to get in. Plus dont get to hang out around wide-eye people that are eternally stuck in a K-Hole or compulsively looking for never never stuff on bad US E. |

Well, that's what NYC lounges are turning into.. But still, most close at 4-5am.. I guess that's not *too* bad.. I dunno, I'm just pissed coz after Twilo got shut down, NYC went DEAD for about a year.. Now there's like 2-3 major clubs left.. And they will go real soon too at this rate.. That's no good if you ask me and I highly doubt that the next generation will be less f*cked up than ours.. They'll find a way to get their drugs, even if it's not at SF or Exit.. |

lol...r u kidding me...where you ever at limelight during its prime....92-96. people used to smoke dust right in the middle of the dance floor...they had house dealers...nothing epitomised the music and drug culture more than limelight and peter gatien was the mastermind behind the whole thing. there were kids everywhere rolling and passed out in K holes. granted he did put on great shows and made people fall in love with club experience, but 85% of the kids in there were ed up beyond belief. |

Once again they have shut down the places where music lived and was the club was part of it. I am just as pissed about TWILO as you are. And as many times as I said "thats it, I am done with clubbing" another nite rolls around, another beautiful set by a dj and you thinking am I freaking NUTS to quit all that? The antitode was going to Europe this past summer. I mean when I saw how things are done in Amsterdam (Sensation-White) Berlin (Loveparade, Tresor, few other "Love" parties) and Ibiza (:happyhappy:)...I came back here and did not event want to go to a club/lounge/bar. I can get that thrill just getting into my car, pop the cd in, turn up the volume and just take off in no particular direction. And dont forget that the roots of our culture are really underground in a small places where there was no glamour or trends...It was all about music and dance. And we need to find it once more. Drugs will always be present. The question is will people grow up fast enough not to do them anymore and enjoy music w/o it. For me one of the most memorable moments was when on Donald Glaude in Limelight I finally GOT music w/o any substances that was a TRIP. |

Yes I was there. And I remember all that. But you see you said it urself Peter knew how to throw parties. And still Disco 2000 days it WAS about the music and PLUR and dancing and friends more than about drugs...Hey you go to ROCK CONCERT and you will see people puffing away or snorting something. And Gatien never made money on it. Otherwise he would never sold Limelight/Tunnel and would have never been shutdown. Its just that they way WE used to drugs is very different from how kids NOW do drugs. We did it and OMG we would be on a dance floor until the kingdom comes. Nowdays, they pop/sniff/smoke something and to the corner to squeeze someone or try to get laid. I mean no wander DJs when they come here dont "put out" For what? For these insane kids with eyes popping out when they look at the DJ booth? For crying out loud he could be spinning Britney or Backstreet Boys and they would love it. (BTW thats very similar to what Peters does in SF) No I am telling you before it was music and drugs were to enhance. Now its DRUGS and than music to enhance the experience and that is no way to do it. |

DUDE u have no clue what your talking about...Peter NEVER threw Disco 2000 parties...he sat on his ass while Michale Alig did...Alig ran that party and the limelight in those days was no more about PLUR then it was about plumbing...those parties where drug parties...simple as that....
If you went to Limelight on Wednesday nights u would have seen the most ed up clubs kids ever...all in control by Alig....
Gatien nevermade money on it?????????...hhhhhmmmm lets see...after Michale Alig and Freeze got busted...what happened to Limelight?...it died FAST....Gatien hired Alig to run those parties and CLAIMED he did not know of the drug use/delaing...yet he knew that Alig was bringing in the crowd and some dealers...which inturn brought Gatien lots oif money...wake up dude...u obviously werent there...
U think people who do drugs now are different?./....did u ever attened NASA parties?...or Robot parties?...or Tunnel on a regular saturday night?....OMG there where kids there so dusted and high on meth it was retarted....it is no differnt.....people where passing out left and right and some dieing.... dont u remember Twilo had that room for when people got too smashed they would throw kids in there so cool off...instead of calling paramedics because they where scared to get busted....
Or how about at NASA when there was that little group of old school club kids who shot up heroin in the girls bathroom then walked around with Army issue gas masks filled with some kind of inhalent......they where worse then ANY kids i see nowadays....
U OBVIOUSLEY dont know what your talking about.,anddid nto attend those parties...cus u would know.....onlt thing that REALLY has changed is that the authorities arent taking this anymore....cus back then it wasnt a focus of their problems...especially when Dinkens was mayor of NYC....
I love Guilianni to death.....but u wanna blame the down fall of club kids and NYC club culture....blame it on Guilianni....hes the one who started it all..... |
