Man Used Keystroke-Monitoring Software to Steal $2,000
The moral of this story is be careful what you type on a computer which belongs to a public place. Douglas Boudreau, a Boston College student, stands accused of installing keystroke-monitoring software on college computers to steal about $2,000.
Authorities say Boudreau was able to build a database filled with information gathered from 4,800 students, staff and faculty members. The students has been suspended and he can get up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He refuses any comment.
So far this software has been used mostly by spouses who suspect cheating or bosses spying on their workers. Now we see that this software can be used in other ways. It appears that this student only used the information he gathered to steal.
