I didn't even bother reading any of that cack this penis wrote up above....but, all I have to say is ...
Luckily, the REAL "talents" have moved unto better places....such as ROXY;) and that's all I need to bring me out!

Hmm.... I have a mixed feeling about his post. I could care less for Sound Factory or Exit - both clubs sucked and were terrible. My night in SF when PvD spun there was terrible. The club was packed, full of nasty people, full of a-holes. Exit, once again - terrible venue, same crowd, bunch of steroid-ridden shirtless bald a-holes giving you the attitude and sweatin' all over you. ing disgusting places. I could give two s they closed. Hell, I hope they remain closed. ON the flip side of the coin, DT is right - those same s (finally, I said the full word) will be clogging up other clubs. I guess what he is subliminaly saying is please, keep those clubs open so that those jerk-offs stay away from here.
As far as livelyhood of club personnel????? Hum... let me see about that one. First, water $5.00??? I wonder why... I mean when was the last time you saw a club make thousands of dollars OFF OF WATER back in drinking days? Second, how many people go to club and stay sober??? Those who do get wasted, how many are wasted on alchohol?
Third, how many times did I see club security blackmail someone they busted in a toilet stoll popping pills??? I saw with my own eyes how two security s searched one guy and said give me all your money or we'll hand you over to cops? Guess what - they make damn good profit off that too. I read an article in Muzik magazine, one of the bouncers was saying "Yeah, we confiscate the from them. Throw away hard drugs.."(Yeah, right)"... weed gets smoked after the show, and divide the loot among the staff. We call it 'dividing tips'".
DT is a good dj but IMHO, don't tell me he does not realize that most of the people who come out to see him, buy his records and such are in some way related to drug scene??? I personally cannot imagine someone listening to an 8-hour or 12-hour DT set completely sober. Sorry if my opinion offends someone.
So, that's my $0.40 worth ($0.02 adjusted for local taxes, fees, and mark-ups)

| All i can say is thank god i live in the uk i couldn`t be arsed with all the hassle:( Drugs and dance music go together they have done from the start and people wont stop doing them because Danny T says so |

With authorities all over the world cracking down on dance-music events and clubs, Van Dyk feels that dance culture needs to unite into an informative and positive course of action. “We have to educate the authorities of our politics, especially considering the aftermath of the events of September 11,” he says. “Dancing is part of our politics. Dancing promotes a greater understanding of nations and cultures and is far more effective than bombing a country. There should be more politics in dancing again. We've forgotten to bring across to the authorities that this is youth culture. It's not just about nightlife. It doesn't just belong in clubs anymore. There's much more to electronic music. Closing clubs like Twilo doesn't just take away the possibility of kids going out, it removes their involvement in a global youth culture.”
Van Dyk feels that the only way to change this is on an individual level: “Each individual, each promoter, each writer, each magazine has to do it their own way. We have to show concern about the cultural issues surrounding dance music, not just which track is best for a night out. No wonder the authorities think that this culture is all about drug abuse. We've forgotten to tell them the other reasons behind dance music. And that's the politics of dancing.” |
