| don't you guys think that all of our goals as producers should be to have the ability to make the sounds that will make our songs great. so i was thinking about the initial wave form that all sounds start as...how do we take that and create beautiful sounds. i just wanted to discuss it with anyone who is interested or knows a thing or to about this sorta stuff. |

Not sure I entirely agree with that. Great solo sounds don't necessarily fit well into a track! Also, a producer should take the sounds and change them to make everything fit together sonically. Finally, why would you want to make sounds when you can get a great bundle of them on sample CDs? ;)
The "initial wave form" might just be a sine wave, at least if you're talking FM synthesis. Don't really understand your question :conf: |

Well, i think its just a matter of opinion if u want to make your sounds or not. I want, just for the gratification of being able to do it myself. Of course i use samples, but i want to know how they r made at all.
For the "initial" wave form, i think its a little useless too, just cuz it will aways endup in a saw, or sine or so on, that got filtered, mixed with other wavs and that stuff, in the synth. There r some filters and effects that u cant imitate perfectly with softsynths unless u find the formula of that hardsynth u want to copy and make a filter yourself (pretty hard).
Im interested in the raw wave too, but not exactly the initial ones, lets say, the ones that holds the "shape" of the saw, not filtered, enveloped or anything, just raw.
Like waves of Juno106 or JP8000 (i hav some).
It would be great to find some of these for Nord Lead and other great synths.
Maybe we can start a thread for trading and colecting that type of wav? |

ok well maybe i just referred to something wrong, but what i meant was like you said the sine wave or the square wave etc. i want to learn how to manipulate those sounds to make a sound for a song ya know. so lets say i have a sound in my head... i wouldn't have to go willy nilly all over the internet to find something that isn't exactly what i want and try to make it. i think that it is just another element of knowing the equipment you are using.
note: i've been messing around this morning and holy i created a monster beat by just starting with a sine wave from a JP 808 pack...i've got the idea for the rest of the song now so as long as i can make those sounds...this one's going to the record store i promise you hehehe. |

I suppose we got that samples form the same source :) I also got such samples from the JP8000's supersaw wave. |

Cool! I really need to "see" the form of the wave of such synthesizers, so, i can just draw it identicaly in soundforge to recreate it and loop it.
I hav been navigating through some of that tutorial sites to see if i find ilustrations with some of these cool waves, and found some indeed.
I used to get that type of stuff from analoguesamples.com, but i was busy recently and let to get all samples there later, but now the site has been closed :whip:
Triple fool i'm!! :tongue2 |
