Holy ! I just came back from a local party here in Waterloo, where local resident DJ Dennis Hahn and then Purple Heaven's Jason Marshall have completely DESTROYED the place !

First Dennis(some of you may have seen him at Feb. 1st Viva party) was spinning some awesome hard tech-trance, and THEN.... Jason Marshall threw down an incredible "Trance of 99" set! This set made me realise how awesome Trance has been in 99 and how it is has deteriorated in quality since then. Don't get me wrong, Trance is still amazing, but '99 were the true days of Trance! Tracks like "Major League - Wonder", "Solar Stone - Seven cities(NOT armin mix)" etc... For a minute I wished it was 99 again.

I did I did! I was just getting into it during that time. Although I think even in '99, I was hardcore 0ld sk00l.

'99 was a turning point I think... I can't verify any of this personally but I know some who've said that big shows like Love Parade, for example, were at their peak in '99... haven't been the same since then.

Gwaha, see, everyone becomes 0ld sk00l given enough time...

I am listening to M3 - Bailamos (Matt Darey mix) (from 1999 or 2000 I think)

and I'm really missing the old sound of trance.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Note to Toronto promoters.... Book this guy for an event.

Even if it's En:trance 3.0 - a 1999 clasic set would be amazing! Book it now! ;)

Man, some of us have been listening to trance since the old Atlantis and early Destiny raves... (early/mid 90s).

I think the best years for (classic) trance were 1997/98/99 and early 2000.

I've bought a few Ministry of Sound discs lately, and they've been trance-remixes of 80s songs.. If that is what cheeze-trance has formed into (at least in the MoS way) I'm not interested.

There are still a lot of good trance lables (Bonzai), but you've got to hunt and search for great tracks... 1998/1999 was orgasmic.
Tudo Beleza
I think i entered trance world in 99.

For me it is was a werid progression to trance. I think it was during the period i was moving in to dance music and i saw songs that had trance remix, so i started looking for this artist name Trance, and from there i met the wonderful world of Oakie, Sasha and Digweed, PVD, AVB and others.

I remember buying the MOS cds they were great, my fav is Clubbers guide to Trance, that is seriously a great set.

I like the song

Liquid child - diving faces (matt darrey mix??)
ATB 9 pm till i come (matt darrey mix)
Solar stones - seven cities

wow yes were has that trance gone.
