Basketball and American Football are the two most exciting sports to watch in my opinion. Some of you non-american fans might not get why, but the constant play action just gets fans more excited then waiting for the moment of score instead.
Basketball in my opinion is the most exciting game to watch, I won't bother to explain because if a man jumping over a 7 ft guy while throwing down a ball into a raised hoop 11 ft in the air isn't thrilling... I don't know what is.
In american football, there's alot more athletic talent being displayed(my opinion though) then in regular football. Having dexterity with every part of your body other then your hands is good in all, but hands have the best dexteric motions then the rest of your body. Causing more 'athletic' and 'finesse' play, in my opinion.
Watching a ball being thrown 40 yards, some how caught by a streaking reciever, then him running down the field with such finesse - juking, spining, tackling, strifing, all sorts of fancy movement while other guys tackle the out of each other isn't fun to look at, don't tell me i'm dilerious.
Sure, a streaking midfielder that headbutts a pass to a high flying kick into a goal is an amesome play as well, but that doesn't happen every game.
I guess americans just want savvy excitement on every play, when they watch an sports game. Europeans have gone accustom of football's back and forth play that it keeps them just enough on their heels to follow the gameplay until someone scores a goal - I guess i'm not used to waiting around for an exciting play to happen. |

Austrailian Rules Football is King!
Hockey is a close second.
American football is filled with over-padded, over-paid, bitches. They only play once a week and they still need a by week. During a game, the ball isn't even moving for more that 40% of game time. Kind of like Nascar. When watching, you're just waiting for something somewhat impressive to happen. Which happens about 5% of the time.
In basketball, its too easy to score. Its mainly a game of hoping your oponent misses more than you do. But the ball is continuously moving, and they play more than 20 games a season.
Baseball isn't even a sport. At least no more than syncronized swimming. And the players still need steroids. |

no dude, theres way more strategy, talent, skill and athletism in basketball in any other sport imo.
Just because your opponant misses a shot, doesn't mean that missed shot wasn't earned off of defense. Most people can only make a basketball shot if their wide open, free and undistracted. Make it difficult for them to shoot and don't let them concentrate then they'll obviously miss.
If the NBA was based upon just letting each team shoot the ball without defense and whoever the winner is decided by who makes the most baskets without defense, then the game would be too easy. The avg pro basketball player only makes about 45% of their shots in game. Thats not the majority of shots made, nor is it the result of poor shooting. Pressure, good defense, and array of defensive strategy all adds up to those 55% of missed shots. Majority of NBA players can make an uncontested basket continuiously, it takes talent to make those baskets while having a hand in your face and 5 other players disrupting your effort to score a basket.
In football, it's random when someone scores a goal. The most talented football player on the field might not score an assist or a goal everygame. It just takes the right timing and good execution to make a goal.. But it always leaves every football game up for grabs if both teams are loaded with talent. Only the goalies really determine the game's outcome.
In basketball, talent and athletics mean everything. Full teamplay and everyone's cooperation wins ball games.
I love basketball, really it's more simple then the majority of sports games. It's the easiest game to play, and it's available to play at anytime, anywhere there's a basketball, to anyone who chooses to play. You can play alone, or with 10-20 people it doesn't matter. There's so much variation to the game available to people of all ages and size. Sure being tall is an advantage, but you don't have to be tall to be good.
All the other sports require more then one person to play, even though football you can work on 'football skills', those don't mean jack unless you got a real opponant to practice your skills against. |

American football isn't all about the ball or scoring.
Tackles, sacks, fumbles, everything that varies with-in the game means something and causes excitment. Watching some dude get slaughtered to the ground is pretty fun to watch in my opinion. You see all kinds of crazy tackles and everything in between. American football has so much strategy to it, It's 60% mental 40% physical. It's a smart man's game in my opinion. It's not like watching football and the ball gets kicked around 95% of the game while your waiting for someone to score. It's suspenseful, but the action isn't quite as much exciting as american football. It's just tossing a ball around the field until someone scores a goal. Plus football doesn't give much of a chance to deficit rallies compared to american football or basketball. there's always teams rallying from deficits to come back and win. Football, score 2-3 goals and the game is pretty much over. |
