| start listening to more progressive... it puts people in a nice groove in warm-up sets... it doesnt have many break down and is great for openning/closing djs... leave the peak time trance with break downs to headlining djs... thats what they're there for... |

Ok that was helpful, but my question is, at the club the headlining djs don't play stuff with breakdowns, so what genre of music is that? but thank you for your input. |

| Its a progressive style of music. Probably some type of progressive house or trance. Lets not forget that all clubs and djs play different styles of music so saying "at the club the headlining djs don't play stuff with breakdowns" is completely incorrect. |

| well think of it like this... usually a regular night at any given club starts out like this... you have a warm up dj playing from 9:30 to about 11pm playing some kind of classic or groovy house... from about 11 till about 1am you get a progressive house dj who sets the tone for the night... then usually you would get another dj that would warm up for the headliner... this guy would carry on with progressive but throw in some harder beats, not too many to outdo the headliner, but just enough so that the headliner can go ahead and do his thing from 2:30 or 3:00 till about 5 or 5:30... then you get the closers who again play progressive house or trance and slowly take it down step by step... |

I think you should play whatever the hell you want. Afterall, it's your style, your music, your track selection. Who cares if they fire ya? There will be people who digs yours style, music, and track selection, and you will be back up on your feet!!

| ^^^ it doesnt actually work like that... you can like hip hop if you want, but if you're expected to play a certain style of music, and you don't, you're done |

| I agree with ya deejay2002, but like tg said it doesn't work like that. You do have to cateer to what the club wants you to do. But in all actuallity, yes it's your style, your track selection and so on. That is what it all boils down to. :tongue3 |

:haha: wishful thinking!
let's put it this way:
if you don't want to play the style that the club wants, then there are tons of other dj's like you out there who will.
i wonder who would get hired? :disbelief :thepirate |
