It's time to find out how to use Reason beyond common ways in order to to do the things, which make producing more inspiring, original and easier.
But for this it needs more than ready tutorials and using default setups, it need the willing to experiment with Reason.

I know there are many talentated Reason user on this forum...
and I want You all to join me in finding and exploring how to make real

the first hint:

ever thought of creating your own FX-chain at a mixer ?
Most people uses a Reverb Unit or a Delay as SEND FX for the mixer.
But you also can create a chain beginning with a phaser, a distortion unit and a compressor. Or use a flanger with a reverb unit as send fx.
OR just use a maelstorm as an "psychoacustic filter with a delay".

I like to add a separate mixer for the ReDrum machine, and then run each drum channel through its own channel in the mixer - that way you can add effects like reverb and delay, etc to individual drum sounds, and not the drum machine as a whole.

first of all sorting out everything is really really important...makes you work 10 times as fast as if you just create synth after synth in a big bunch...

I usually have one mixer for drums and the arrangement around that and one mixer for synth, bassline, pads and so on

another thing is naming the devices, ALWAYS name the device so you know what is what, and also name the effects on the devices so you know to wich device they belong :)

Another great tip on how to get a better and wider stereosound:

On almost every synth (except subtractor, but we'll get to that later) two cables is connected to each chanel from the synth...what you do is that you unconnect one of the cables and put it on the chanel next to the original chanel so you have one synth connected to 2 channels...

after that you change the balance on both chanels so one of them is balanced to the right and one to the left and then you just need to adjust the volume...

when you do this with subtractors you have two choices...one is to create dual subs wich is programmed exactly the same and another is to put an effect on the sub....from the effect you can then draw one cable to each channel....

if anyone didn't really understand this just tell me and I'll suply some screenies on this :)

one thing that is really important is to put reverb on those synths...when you do this don't use the effectutility on the mixerchannel...put the reverb directly on the synth instead, and try using ,ultiple verbs too...gives some cool effects on some sounds :D

but, never mind :D here something for all Reason Users:

Propellerheads give some real cool dirty tricks for Reason on their
webpage, beginning with some really cool tweaks for DR Rex.
