How do you do DJ Joop's Trance Energy 2003 Mixing Effect?

If anybody's downloaded this set from TE2003, listen to the mix between The Disco Brothers - First Contact (Regeneration mix) and William Orbit - Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten remix). At 32:57 I believe he uses the crossfader/channel levels to single out the old track. But what does he do at 33:04? It sounds as though he solos and spins down the old record? Is that how the effect is achieved? I'd love to know, cause it sounds SOOOO cool.

There is nothing special about that.

hmmm not sure, and probably wasn't this way, but I think he slowed down the record while moving the crossfader all the way to the outgoing track and then quickly moved all the way to the incoming track. Interesting effect :)
The Don
Easy.

Depends how your doing it really. If the tune that slows is the tune he mixing out then basicly do your mix and when you want the other tune to finish kill the volume on the tune coming in as you press the start/stop button on the deck playing the tune your mixing out. Then as it stops whack the volume up again. Simple...

Its just the same if hes just messing with the tune premix except do it the other way around...
Arsalan
well instead of using mixing "trix" to make his set more interestting he shouldve concentrated on his beatmatching.
The Don
Why?? Id prefer an "interesting" set with a few mistakes than a perfect boring as hell one...

dont get me wrong effects are nice and all but nothing special, i just think he shouldve beatmatched more or just Beat Matched.

listen to to jungle Dj's (Turntablism) if you want effects.

And how could a set be boring if it has a nice flow and a kick ass tracklist ?

So what you saying is that if a DJ does not add effects to his set, they are boring ?

BTW i have nothing against joop's tracklist, he had a good one and also respects for mixing in front of so many ppl.

Aabech
He probably means that it's boring with a set with nice mixing but awful tracklist :D
