| Well...I shaved a few years off my life this weekend by catching PvD @ Avalon Boston on Thursday night and then catching him again the next night @ Roxy in NYC. In retrospect Boston was mostly a warm up session with him playing mostly stuff off his DVD/CD...the set was fine, I'm never dissapointed when I see PvD...but extra weak when compared to the beatdown that he gave us @ the Roxy. I had planned to leave the floor a couple times to rest...but couldn't ever get around to it. Around 6:00-6:30 he tore out some of the sickest breakbeat hard trace stuff that I have ever heard and I'm on a mission to find some of it. The night @ the Roxy was just simply amazing...I heard a lot of people talking about how it was the best party NYC has had in over a year...no guido's, no bad attitudes...just PvD kicking the collective ass of the audience. It was a solid mix of old and new with all your favorites mixed in between. Its sooo nice to hear him in NYC where he can play all night...instead of @ Avalon where its TKO'd by 2am. The only complaint I have is that he only spun till 8:30am... ;P |

hello,
I agree with your post.
Avalon set was really weak and I was personally very dissapointed. On the other hand, newyork kicked ass like never before!
please check the NYC forum for tracklist, photos and reviews by other members.
all the best,

| Oh man, Boston is all I've got... I would never be able to go anywhere else to see a show since I'm here for school... unless he happens to come to Colorado again, but of course most DJs only tour during the school year in the US cause of summer residences in Ibiza and the UK... booo to living in the US... and being a poor college student. |

Yeah, I live in Colorado but I go to school in Boston. I'm back in Colorado during the school breaks and summer time. I just recently turned 18 however, and haven't had too many chances to see any big DJs in Colorado. I've gotten to see a few good ones out here in Boston though...
Tiesto, Sasha, PvD, Hybrid. Was thinking of going to Mauro Picotto and I'd like to see Micro sometime. Anyways... that's me. :) |

Ohh man... I saw him in LA on the 23rd and he played 3 of the sickest breaks ive ever heard in a row. I also met this girl who went to see him in boston, then got shutdown @ROXY and then came out to california and saw him in LA. She was a hardcore fan. |

Yeah @ Roxy I heard about people WITH TICKETS getting turned away...or waiting in line to the point where they were just like...IT...I'm out. But those breakbeat tracks...they must have been the same...I was with some friends of mine...one of whom is a local DJ from NYC (who is an encyclopedia of trance) and even he couldn't ID the tracks. I absolutely must have them...I haven't heard them in any of his livesets...I think they are his "Special Reserve" tracks...cause he certainly didn't break them out in Boston. The thought crossed our mind to hit Armin in DC the third night...It would have been Thurs PvD Boston, Fri PvD NYC, Sat Armin DC...but we were already looking for hospital beds as it was @ 9am when we finally got home. |
