hmm, i think its been around way longer before everquest, and some people like to think l33t tawk started in CS. but thats all bull as well.
I've been using computers before the commercialization of the internet, and we've been using that lingo on BBSes for a long time.
terms like elite, lamers, and so on were used by computer nerds long before these games came out, but I guess it was introduced to the mainstream when the nerds brought it out from hiding and into view by regular people through the computer games, and it was made big from there.
Hah, I have a chemistry prof here who uses the term "pwned" which I believe originated from quake, where one person would say "owned" as in I kicked your ass and I own you, but typing so fast missed the o and hit the p. That's my guess on it.
btw groovy pants are you a martial artist? the character in your avatar in chinese is Wu: This word, meaning war, martial, or military, represents military traditions, theories, philosophies and the ideals of martial arts. :) |
