Speaking of Mercedes-Benz, etc., my uncle told me a few statements and I wanted to find out if they are true or if he's just BIASED. He said the following:

1. Germany makes the best cars.
2. Mercedes-Benz makes the most logically designed cars out.

To me, those statements SOUND biased but what can I say? I know almost nothing about where cars rank (who's the best/worst manufacturer, etc.). So, can anyone tell me: Does Germany REALLY make ALL of the best cars? Also, where would Mercedes-Benz rank at? Are they in the top 10?

yah thats some bias...but you wont get an answer in a german car thread thats universal.

sounds like a good way to start a knife fight with a Japanese car enthusiast|

depends on what you use your car for

you want the best touring/sport sedan money can buy...it will be german--BMW M5 or Audi RS6

you want some of the nicest interiors (outside of rolls and bently....youll find it in an audi

you need the best AWD in the world(can you say Audi Quattro?)

best sport coupe is probably the BMW M3

Mercedes are generally built like tanks(in a good way)

one of the nicest super cars would probably have to go to the Porsche 911 GT2.

but there are the downsides to german cars youll pay $100 for an oil change at the BMW dealer sometimes, they can be expensive to maintain(although they typically last a long time) and they are expensive to get into.

thats where the argument for japanese cars comes in with the price to performance ratio...i mean look at the nissan 350z almost 290HP for $26k base yikes! that thing will beat the pants off any comparitively priced german cars. and the current unfortunate american craze of the honda civic and putting as much plastic and a park bench on the back of it...to some people that is thier dream car, in the end its all a matter of opinion. for every german car i named some people could name a japanese for the same category

as a sidenote my brother has an audi A6 and my uncle owns a BMW 540i
and to me, when i rode in those cars for the first time (especially with the audi) the first thing i thought was "now i know why people are willing to spend $40k+ on these cars"
fr0st
audi is junk they engine compartment is very poorly designed and they are very hard to work on, not to mention persistant problems that the shouldnt have.....I dont have anything bad to say about BMW or mercedes though minus they cost a lot but you get what you pay for?
