Despite the popularity that Acosta has grown to, I don't think he's that great. His sets have grown increasingly based on hits and commercial successes rather than a personal style.
I have an old CD of his called Members of X, however, that is worth looking into. It's a great compilation from a time when the Miami scene had a more distinct sound. |

I have his CD "Awake."
It's pretty good.....
I also have PM edition on an mp3 cd somewhere....
God that's the worst trance "CD" ever! Reeks like limburger...
I've heard his latest CD is not bad but I dunno....
I'll see when I see him.....
Bottom line: I need to move away from here haha.:stongue: :haha: |

| IMO, if you have nothign else to do then go see him, but if he's playing teh same night as PvD then i guess you know what to do,... but don't not see him b/c of what somebody says, he still plays pretty good trance, albiet it be a bit harder than usual but still not half bad, i saw him less than a month ago in Gainesville, it was probably my favorite time seeing him, out of 5 times,... |

That's cool.
I don't live in New York or UK, so I can't be that picky. :( |

I've seen Acosta 3 times: At ZenFest I, Airport in 02, and at another rave in Austin in in later 2002. All those sets were good, with the exception of the last one. He seemed to have a lack of producing a good tracklist, just playing songs wherever. Lately he has just been playing a lot of cheese, with a lot of stupid male vocals. But nonetheless, give him a shot, hes worth the money to see.
peace,

Zen Fest 2001 in Dallas? God that was awesome. THe closest we have ever come to Ultra anyways. Tiesto tore that up!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'm going almost certainly. I'll get to decide if I still respect him or not? Are you going? Some friends of mine went to the one in Austin you talk about and said it was too crowdy...:whip: |

miami 'used' to have a zen fest. i went in 99, and knew they still had one in 2000, maybe 2001. i dunno if they are still around, but last time i heard about zen fest, snopp dogg was headlining, so zen fest got kinda unelectronic. the year i went was amazing, chem bros, john digweed, and those are the only names i remember. |

ok, no debating that one. But you do have to give him credit. He does know how to run a show. I've seen him way more times than I'd really like to admit, and as predictible as his sets may be, I still like his style/mixing skills(even if he goes on the trips with, and i quote the guy in the radio, the jesus poses, or get's reaaaaaally annoying with the horn @ Spin, err, spi :D

it's not PVD or Tiesto, so there's no use comparing them. They're totally different(duh) I say give him a chance, and just go for the fun of it |

| The last 2 sets I've seen from Acosta have been nice as hell. He throws down some incredibly hard trance. I saw him at The Palace in Gainesville in October and once last month. I don't remember ANYTHING about the show last month, but I know I went cus I woke up with a wristband on. The set I remember, the one from October, was hard as hell and had Flo, Bobbo & I bouncing all night. I'd definatly check him out again. |
