Urgent question concerning thread subscription

Usually when u post in a thread (whether you're the thread starter or not), and some1 adds a post, you'll see it in your PROFILE (it automatically subscribed)
For some reason this stopped for me. People post and the threads don't appear anymore.
How can I change this? |

When you post a reply, there is an "Email Notification"-checkbox about an inch above the submit button. If you check it, the thread gets added to your subscribed threads.
And if you set "Use 'Email Notification' by default?" in your profile (profile->edit options) to yes, then the email notification option is always checked, by default.
